Will the new Star Wars Steel books have Disney Movie Rewards? Interesting that it looks like they might be dropping the Episode #'s from the titles.

The digital downloads for Episodes 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 are 150 DMR points each. Star Wars: A New Hope does not have DMR points, you have to get that from other sources, like iTunes.

Talk about hyperbole. A "100 year plan"? I don't think so. I think someone is trying to hype the stock price up.

Could anyone in 1915 have predicted our culture in 2015? And both the culture and technology is probably going to change far more in the next 100 years than it did in the past 100 years (and that assumes that western culture or humanity in general survives the next 100 years).

Besides, one Star Wars movie that's both bad and that has disappointing box-office can kill the whole franchise. The PT may not have gotten good reviews, but they still had big box-office because everyone wanted to see where the story went. That might not be true for future films, especially the stand-alone films. One bad film might mean no further releases for at least five years, giving people time to forget the bad film and Disney time to reboot the franchise. Sort of like what happened between "Batman & Robin" (1997) and Nolan's "Batman Begins" (2005).

Thinking ahead into future decades also doesn't allow for the impact on overall revenues when there are far fewer theatres than today and everyone is watching films at home or on small portable devices. In 30 years, there might not be any such thing as "box-office".

Just going to point out that George Lucas was not thrilled with the domestic receipts of Episode II and -- I'm not kidding! -- said that if the film didn't hit a certain target, there might not be an Episode III.

Toy leaks are hitting ebay, but not lasting long. I followed a few links posted on Rebelscum, but the auctions were already removed.

I collect the Star Wars 6 inch Black Series of the OT characters and have some Sideshow figures as well but will wait until I actually see The Force Awakens before buying any merchandise. I remember spending hundreds of dollars and driving all over town to find stuff for The Phantom Menace merch because it was going to be awesome. I still feel had.

I wouldn't be worried in the least. There is no doubt in anyones mind that this film is going to do huge business in the US and overseas.

Nah. Star Wars is huge right now. The comic sold more than a million copies right? Broke some kind of record if I'm not mistaken, like best selling issue in twenty years or so. That's HUGE!
A year when Jurassic World breaks records much thanks to nostalgia, there really is no reason to worry or even speculate that this won't follow suit.

As soon as JW opened to $200M+ any lingering doubts I had about Ep VII were blown away. And just think, if we actually get a good film combined with that powerful wave of nostalgia (which will bring the prequel dislikers in from the cold, on top of everyone else who's there anyway because it's Star Wars) then Ep VII could be an even bigger hit than JW.

Anyone else liking the rumour that Boba's daughter will be in this? If so that's Captain Phasma explained and why she's chasing the Falcon. [BD][/BD]Also, I might lead the the other rumor that Han dies!

That rumor isn't about this movie, it concerns Felicity Jones' character in Rogue One. It's obvious BS anyway as Jones is 31 and if this was true she'd be playing the daughter of a character who was what, 13 during the events of Revenge of the Sith, which takes place a bit under 20 years before Rogue One. They'd be almost the same age.

Even if the character was a decade younger than the actress (as we all know actors have played characters much younger than themselves before), I somehow doubt they'd have Boba father a child in his early teens. It wouldn't be impossible biologically, but it's obviously not somewhere they'd want to go with Star Wars.

I salute Bob Iger for trying to downplay expectations...but here's the truth. Disney didn't buy Star Wars for box office revenue or home video revenues. They bought Star Wars for that merchandise money. Truth, folks. Now, Lucas (astonishingly) sold LucasFilm for only $4 billion. Financial analysists are forecasting revenues from SW7 merchandise -- not the box office, the merchandise -- to hit or exceed $3 billion alone. From the one movie. Disney is practically already in the black for the purchase of the entire business from the projected revenues off of one film alone.

The headline of that IBT article is a cute little bit of click bait....but no. Disney isn't worried.

Oh yeah, the merch is the thing but they won't say no to a $2 billion gross for the movie itself.
