What does Fox have that Marvel might want for such a deal?
Kevin Feige right now...

I read Fox's Chairman and CEO (Dana Walden) tease a proposed live-action X-Men series, not animated.

But you are right - Fox still has to negotiate with Marvel Studios to use the X-Men characters in any type of TV series, because the X-Men characters are only with Fox on the feature side.

I thought it was a live action show that Fox wanted to do.

Either way, they still need Marvel's permission.

So glad this isn't released in IMAX. Still haven't seen Rogue Nation, which I plan on seeing soon.

Default Fantastic Four - August 7th, 2015

Rotten Tomatoes score is up to 10%, who gave this thing a fresh rating… Let's get 'em!

In all fairness, I will wait for audience reviews and unless they are just as bad, I will likely see it.

Based on the review so far, it sounds like Trank basically remade Chronicle and at the end Fox forced him to finish it as a superhero film.

Right, my mind said live action and my senile old fingers typed animated or vice versa.

Correct. They have recently and in the past expressed desire to do either or both, but need marvel's permission.

I'm actually waaay more interested now that it's getting disastrous reviews than I would be if they were just middling.

Hopefully it joins Jupiter Ascending and Chappie in the beautiful mess category this year.

Fox can't do anything with the X-Men property except make movies, but they want to make an X-Men television series, too. In order to do that, they have to get Marvel's permission.

What might Fox have to give up that would sway Marvel to allow them?

Fantastic Four, Dr. Doom, Silver Surfer, Galactus, and Skrulls maybe?

Fox, you've got the X-Men and are doing a great job with them -- but you just suck at the Fantastic Four! Give up and gain something out of this!

Again...

I have to see this now, just to find out why the first half/quarter is getting so much praise while the later parts are being called the worst in cinema.

The facts about how they planned for the possibility of Nelson turning into the Mole man was confirmed long ago--when some writer involved was asked about the name, he replied coyly "you never know"---and obviously the name wasn't a one in billion coincidence.
The fact that he is now called Gen. Allen and is killed off in the reshot finale' is mentioned by many people who have seen the movie.

The OPINION that he once again hams it up has also been mentioned in a few reviews and I happen to share the opinion that he tends to overact and become annoying.

what in there required me to see it before talking about it?

Just saw it and after a rather nice beginning which reminded me a bit the Amblin area but with a darker tone, the movie quickly sinks (from the moment on they're back from Planet Zero, it's totally empty and boring). In addition to that, I've been quite surprised by the very average quality of some SFX (and I don't even mention The Thing's face which is a complete failure for me - looks like he has grouper fish eyes !). Gave it a 5/10.

IMO those are two of the best films released this year. This looks like one of the worst and not in a good way.
Trank does not have a great visual sense in any way...

If I ever do watch this one I wonder if I will be able to not see Jamie Bell as the guy he played in Nymphomaniac instead of the Thing.

I think both are really stellar as well, but there's no denying that they are a bit rough around the edges.

So did I. I don't think they were the best thing ever, but I thought they were just fine.

Fox also sold them together on Blu-ray in a "Own The Moments" 2-pack which is was pretty good deal.

Apparently, Trank did a personal introduction for the reviewer screening and I'd really like to know what he said.

Most of the positive reviews read negative. They nearly all criticise the final third. How are they even considered positive.
