the movie is that bad that I would question your sanity at this point. I mean, I can understand liking a bad movie, I love tons of them, but no matter your take on source material it's just an awful MOVIE to begin with

Just came back from a screening at my local multiplex...
Oh man... I was still hoping for the best, but this was just a disaster. I don't even know where to start... There's no action whatsoever. The little we get can't even be called "action". The plot is ridiculous too (this film is unspoilable by the way, but I'm not even going to discuss plot details here) - they get their powers, then suddenly there's a super brief confrontation with a villain that appears out of nowhere and has no motivations whatsoever and is just there so he can be evil because he woke up that day and decided he was going to be really evil, and then the film ends. I'm struggling to differentiate this film from movies like Seventh Son, for example. Everything's just so boring, irrelevant and insipid - I couldn't care about anything happening on screen, which wasn't even much to begin with. I still can't believe this was directed by the same guy who directed Chronicle. Damn, at least the 2005 Fantastic Four movie was fun. Last edited by TommySyk; 08-06-2015 at 11:25 PM. |

Fox truly has an unmitigated disaster on its hands with this new Fantastic Four movie. I don't know what they were thinking but the majority of movie fans that would be going to see this movie would be superhero fans and comic book fans. Personally, this movie had too many negative aspects going into it:
First, Trank kept describing these heroes as being "disabled" or "handicapped" because of their power. From his comments on that aspect of this popular franchise, he truly had no idea about what makes the Fantastic Four so popular among comic book fans. Second, casting Johnny Storm as an African American hero and the Storm siblings being from a mixed racial marriage? That was the biggest complaint that many fans had about the casting. I don't know why exactly Fox rushed into this but the fact that they were about to lose the rights to many of the Marvel properties they had acquired licenses to just proves that Fox has treated these licenses with disrespect, or rather the producers and directors have. Even though the movie has yet to hit theaters, the film is already tracking so horribly that Fox should have scrapped this project from the outset because it's obvious they weren't listening to the fans who have been angry over the casting of the film from day one. Heck, even the X-Men films haven't been done right, with Bryan Singer taking too many liberties with that film series. I don't know how many people have read the original Days of Future Past comic-book storyline, but the second X-Men movie, from the original trilogy, contained elements of the Days of Future Past storyline and incorporated them into the film. Then, we got a paired down version of that storyline in the X-Men: First Class sequel. Fox simply does not know how to handle licensed properties, they're abysmal at it. Hopefully, Fox will see to reason and revert the production rights back to Marvel while allowing Fox to distribute the film. They need to do the same thing with the X-Men franchise. Just enter into the same kind of distribution deal that Sony Pictures and Universal Studios entered into with Marvel. |

Second, I never want Disney/Marvel to get the rights back to X-Men for several reasons. Number 1 being that I like the best X-films better than the best MCU films. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure he wasn't serious. |
