With D23 this week I am expecting the first real theatrical trailer for The Force Awakens.

I wonder if the Imperial March (in its original form or reworked) will be used for the First Order or if Williams has given them an original theme?

I actually think he was quite good in Shattered Glass, although it was a similar character - one who feels a sense of entitlement and becomes amoral because of it.

I doubt that very much. Stallone had previously appeared in "The Lords of Flatbush" and I'm sure Ebert was aware of that. And Stallone was not really playing himself since Stallone wrote the story. Could Rocky have written the story?

Oh, it's true. I don't know how many conversations you had with Roger, but if you won't take my word, here he is in his own words:

His name is Sylvester Stallone, and, yes, in 1976 he did remind me of the young Marlon Brando. How many actors have come and gone and been forgotten who were supposed to be the "new Brando," while Brando endured? And yet in "Rocky" he provides shivers of recognition reaching back to "A Streetcar Named Desire." He's tough, he's tender, he talks in a growl, and hides behind cruelty and is a champion at heart. "I coulda been a contender," Brando says in "On the Waterfront." This movie takes up from there.

...

He must have known it would work because he could see himself in the role, could imagine the conviction he's bringing to it, and I can't think of another actor who could quite have pulled off this performance.

Roger in later years kidded himself about that comparison with good humor, and yes, didn't know Stallone was effectively playing Stallone.

The mirroring, intentional or not, is simply beautiful. The new shot of the First Order is superb!

It's the detail of the troops that really doesn't work in the PT, the way the CGI suits are modelled it's a tad too perfect, i bet they didn't even use photo reference of a guy in a costume (well, of course they didn't, no CT suits were built for the movies) to get an idea of how a real suit looks like.

Most of the troopers in the bottom right shot are CGI.

CGI, practical, I don't care. It looks great.

Ultimately we all want a good movie no matter what type of effects there are; I for one am optimistic on this.

Blending excellent practical effects/shots with good CGI is the smart way to do it. Good job JJ on getting this part right.
