I think the issue is that in order for the thread to exist in the first place, someone had to give away a code in the first offer. So the moDs moved it to the giveaway thread.

They should've just left it in the digital section where it was. Same thing with the iTunes digital sales thread. Its not like that section sees tons of action like the Movies/TV/Steelbooks, etc. sections do, so there was no harm in keeping them where they were.

I can't see it now either unless i'm logged since its in the trading section of the forum, so I gotta use my phone when I'm at work

Technically Pay if Forward II and III did not require a giveaway to start, only the original Pay It Forward thread which is now deprecated. So the original locked thready could perhaps be moved to the Giveaway forum but not the the other two.

By that logic, if someone gives away something in any thread on the entire site, that thread would then need to be moved to the giveaway forum even if it has thousands of non-giveaway related posts.

It does not make sense that a fraction of a percent of the activity is giveaway content that the entire thread be categorized that way.

I have seen random code drops in threads not in the giveaway forum and those threads are never moved to the giveaway forum. If that was happening the giveaway subforum would be filled with hundreds of regular threads.

The PIF thread should either not have been moved at all, or moved to the Trading forum.

If no one can figure out why it is in the giveaway thread, and there is nothing being given away, how can it possibly do anything except confuse visitors of the giveaway subforum?

maybe if we do giveaways they will move us to the the Movies and TV deals section that place is bussssssssssssy perhaps after a while they will then move us to the North America blu ray movies section

my ultimate goal though is to be moved into the "streaming movies" section after all its what we do AMEN but i am torn the "audio" section makes sense too because we listen to movies - i can see how placing us can be very confusing

If we're being totally honest, the best place would be in Posters discussion...obviously

Afterall....... we're trading movies in here. Movies have posters. In our digital collections, the movies show up most of the time with the theatrical posters as artwork. Since a good majority in here don't actually get around to watching the hundreds/thousands of movies they accumulate, the poster artwork is the most they know about the movie(s) in their collection.
Therefore, "Posters and Art Discussion" would be the appropriate location

I can see how one could view this a giveaway thread, but with a twist. The first person offers a list of codes to choose from to the first person to ask for one of the codes, but before they can claim their freebie, they must offer a list of their own that must get a claim from someone. So, we're bascially giveaway freebies to each other. And thus paying it forward in the freebie chain

I know you're playing devil's advocate, but if you cannot get a code without trading one of yours, then it is not a giveaway thread no matter how the thread originally started.

The thread is for trading period. We allow giveaways here, but it is not the purpose of the thread, so again, not a giveaway thread.

I wasn't trying to play devils advocate. It was really just my poor attempt at humor with a ridiculous reasoning to the move since there was no reason why it was moved to the giveaway thread instead of, if it had to be moved, the regular trade forum. Rather enjoyed where it was at before it was moved.
