I don't mind. Sometimes he's the only thing that makes a movie even worth watching. (Kingsman, for example.) Maybe he's like Christopher Walken and just prefers to always be working.

He's said as much in interviews, when asked about it. He's reached the point where working keeps his mind occupied, instead of lazing around all day. He's worked very hard for many years to reach this point, so I'd say he deserves it.

The man is not in enough movies as far as I'm concerned.

He's working! It's like any other profession or occupation in the workforce. Samuel L. Jackson is paying his agent to get him work, and that's what he's been doing, whether if they are big Hollywood films or B movies. When you have financial responsibilities to fulfill and a family to support, you have to swallow your pride, put your ego aside and take what you can get... Work is work! There are a lot of big A-list actors and actresses who're beginning to star in B movies (even doing TV) because, B movies are less demanding and less stressful, compared to working in big budget Hollywood movies, with big name filmmakers all the time. I can imagine starring in A movies can get old after awhile, it's like (a been there done that) sort of thing and you get tired of it, then you want to branch out and try new areas in the business.

He said that he feels very lucky and happy to do what he does for a living, since it's his dream and he's also come very far in life and overcome some difficult things. So, he rarely turns down work. He loves working.
Christopher Walken also says that he pretty much never turns down a script as long as it fits into his schedule. He just loves working. Also, Danny Trejo is pretty much the same. He joked around, saying that he's afraid that if he turns down work, he'll wake up back in prison and that his life as an actor will have been all a dream. What's also pretty cool of him is that he makes it a point to do at least a few very low budget and student films each year because he wants to help others get into the business because he feels fortunate that he was given a chance at the beginning of his career. He wants to pay it forward. |
