If you whiney people don't like end credits scenes all you have to do is simply get up, walk out of the theater, and go on with your day. Oh and CinemaBlu, hate to break it to you but the credits are part of the body of the movie. So credit scenes are also part of the body of the movie.

How is it a blatant insult to the viewer to include a little outtake along with a cast member's name in the credits? A lot of movies will put the cast credits up over a montage of stills from the film (putting the various names to faces).

What's the difference?

There are exceptions. Stylized credits, like those at the end of Kill Bill, are a different story because of the film's postmodern aesthetic. They don't contradict the style of the film.

But the whiney people are the ones that demand post-credits scenes though right? I don't know how many times in the last few years I've heard, "Wahhh no post-credits scene" or "That post credits scene just wasn't as good as the one from ..... I wasted my time waiting for it!!!!!!"

No, Horrible Bosses 2 was already a bad film. That's my point. Good movies won't sully the experience of the film by adding outtakes unless it was in keeping with the style of the film.

Let's set aside the fact that Horrible Bosses 2 was very funny - how are outtake not in keeping with the style of a comedy?

Airplane! practically originated the stinger and the 'so there!' at the end of the standard copyright notice was hilarious. Were those things blatant insults to the audience?

No doubt outtakes are funny, but in the case of their use in something like Horrible Bosses 2, they're not part of the structure of the film.

I never saw Airplane!, but I said outtakes are insults. From what I know about the film, having never seen it, the "so there" seems like part of the film's style and structure. It doesn't undermine the effect of the film as a whole.

What does that even mean? Isn't pretty much anything a filmmaker chooses to do part of the structure of his or her film?

If I choose to run the end credits over a montage of still that's part of the structure of my film, isn't it? The same would be true if I decided to run the closing credits over scenes from the film. And if I decide to use outtakes they become part of the structure of my film, don't they?

Did the Peter Sellers outtakes at the end of Being There undermine the effects of the film as a whole? What about the outtakes at the end of Cannoball Run or Smokey and the Bandit II?

I love getting bloopers at the end of a movie, probably because I grew up worshipping Jackie Chan flicks.

And who hasn't seen Airplane!?! It's one of the funniest movies ever made!

Hmm, I don't recall seeing a Jackie Chan movie with outtakes. I need to watch more of them. Thinking about martial arts movies does remind me of the outtakes at the end of Chocolate, which showed how real the stunts were and how the actors/stuntmen really hurt themselves doing it. Made me appreciate the film and the talent they had a lot more.

They're pretty common in in original movies (where he usually almost gets killed doing his stunts) and later in his US movies like Rush Hour where he can't get his lines out. I think when you see movies for the star power and performance like Jackie provides, you don't mind a bit of extra time with him out of character, the same goes for Burt and Dom in the Cannonball Run pictures.

That's pretty much what they show at the end of Jackie Chan movies... his stunts gone wrong. Amazing stuff, especially his older films.

Technically yes, but it's not a coherent structure in most cases. The film and the outtakes are two distinct entities and, IMO, the inclusion of outtakes undermines the rest of the film.

I've never seen those films either. Maybe they did. But like I said, there are exceptions.
