The following items from the Archives set are new to home video and not contained on the Blu-ray set:

The original broadcast version of all 26 TV episodes
Death[True] & Rebirth (Only the original "Death" and "Death[True]²" versions will be on the Blu-ray set)
Promotional segments dating to the run-up towards Death and Rebirth's theatrical release

If you don't care about minor differences between the original versions and the later editions of the TV series and/or Evangelion:Death, or about the promo spots for Death & Rebirth, it probably won't be worthwhile.

For those who do care about those things (or are just simply hardcore collectors), it's really not that bad a deal at ￥14385 (US $118 / 771 DKK).

Hard to tell if you're pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised with the current pricing...

Either way, its list price of ¥41040 is almost exactly identical to the ¥41790 that the 2003 "Renewal" DVD box set sold for 12 years ago...

Both, one because that is high so shock and then finding out that is is lower is pleasantly surprised. Really nice looking set.

anyone been on rightstuf.com recently? I noticed while looking at the eva stuff they had to buy and noticed that 3.33 is not around $26. Since I did the pre-order it was locked into the $20 price..is this a good since that it will come out here in the US or not?

I found the unit 02 keyring so I got that

I can't wait to see what arrives first the keyring or Archives DVD set or the BD set.

both shipped!

now since rightstuf hasn't shipped yet the Archive DVD and BD might get here first but it never takes long to get my package from rightstuf once it ships so there is a chance to get the keyring first but I must be queue hell so no ones got the order ready ship or at all.

Where did you order from? Amazon hasn't done anything with my order yet.
Granted unless it ships first thing tomorrow I won't get it until after the weekend anyway. No post on weekends is crazy outdated. I doubt it will though, Amazon doesn't like to ship things to me until the actual release day- unlike other places which try to ship preemptively so I receive the item on or just after release day.

I have a question for you guys who ordered through Amazon.jp. Do you know if the exchange rate locks in at the time of preorder or do you pay the exchange rate at the time it shipped?

They don't charge you until it ships so it's the exchange rate when it ships. I don't think that applies when you select to pay in your local currency but I don't believe they do that for preorders anyway.

I've been able to select local currency for pre-orders, so long as the item is scheduled to ship within (I think) 14 days of ordering.

The dollar weakened quite a bit over the last week... makes me wish I had cancelled my pre-order from February and re-ordered in USD last week to lock in the exchange rate from last week.

Not completely impressed with the New vs Old comparison there but I'm in it for EoE anyway which will be a massive step up from what I currently own, pleased with what we can see here of EoE.
Also acknowledging that it's compressed via Twitter (how much does Twitter compress? I know Facebook compresses big time, is it roughly the same?)

Twitter is a beast with compression, at least when it comes to gifs.
