The space mission can still work, if Reed either miscalculated the amount of radiation. Or the Van Allen Belts doubled or tripled the level of radiation. Or there is intervention by the Kree.

Come on get the quote right.

Gozer the Traveler. He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!

So, you don't want a darker take but you want Reed as the villain? Do I smell a contraddiction here?

I know enough of Lee and Kirby to understand that any "hint" is probably only in some reader's mind or unintentional, a bit like the homosexual subtext in the Batman stories of the Sprang era.

I saw it last night. Horrible. Sue Storm's hair changes in almost every shot. In the scene where Sue is talking to Reed when Doom is watching from the door, there's three distinct shots of her, hair is different in every shot.
[Show spoiler]And as far as the story goes, Dr. Doom is only in the movie for five minutes and is defeated so easily
and then the movie is over.

1/5.

I dont even remember what happened to Dr Doom? Was he pushed into some swirly vortex? It's like the ending of Ang Lee's Hulk. A whole bunch of cgi mish mosh.

You know, it was very ironic when that one pic of Dr. Doom leaked out, because that was virtually his whole scene in the movie.

I think Reed going from hero to villain could be done without it being dark. It's a interesting idea from the Ultimate comics IMO.

No because it was in the 1960s comic book style.

Because the guy who doesn't solve problems punching things must be a villain amirite?

I expected better from a Doctor Who fan.

No. I just think it's an interesting idea. Is there any harm in that?

Because Americans already have a knack to make all sciencey characters villains "just 'cause"?
It wouldn't be original, it would be the same tripe you read in pulp magazines about mad scientists since the '30.

That's not the aspect that interests me, though. It's the man known as a hero who for some reason or another transgresses to the dark side.

Yeah...you've got it. Every American thinks the exact same way...you know...just like the Italians.

To be fair, I don't think that's what he meant. He was saying that American culture has used this trope repeatedly. Or, at least, that is what it seems like he was saying. I don't want to put words in his mouth.
