You've got to strike while the irons hot. I'm a cheapskate too. Normally, I would also wait for 3D titles to drop to $19.99, or lower, before I'd consider pulling the trigger. But all bets are off the table, when a blockbuster action flick like Mad Max: Fury Road comes along. Besides, my birthday is on the 24th...sooooo.

Yeah, 3D sales for BF sucked, only good deal was the Target Lego Movie for $9.
You can afford a 3D TV but not $3?

I don't own a 3D TV. I have a gaming monitor that does 3D, it's only 20" though but it suffices when I sit like 2ft away haha. It's more about future proofing my collection since I've been saving up to do a home theater in the basement that will be 3D capable. It keeps getting pushed back but I'm hoping October will finally be the month it happens!

$3 adds up, if I bought every movie that I want without waiting for a sale, I'd be nowhere near completed since I wouldn't have any money to finish the basement and save up for the projector/screen/sound system. Priorities, Fury Road will come to me one day and it will rock on a 100" screen! But until then, I need to buy an $800 toilet to wrap up the half bath .

So, I've got a copy of the steelbook ordered to pick up tomorrow but I'm torn between getting that and returning it to get the Anthology. Don't own any of the other films on blu ray and that 2.5 hr documentary looks great, but I hate the art and packaging (or lack thereof). What do you guys thing? Would it be dumb to pass on the steelbook?

OMG i was adding the 3D version to my Amazon cart randomly and realized Amazon is now charging me tax. What is this sorcery! Eight years i've been buying from them and never charged tax. This whole system is out of order!

Tell me about it. Amazon started charging tax where I live in February. It's a bummer but what can you do. Amazon still has good prices and 5% cash back with my Amzon card cuts the sales tax down to just a few percent.

That's a tough decision. You can pick up the originals for pretty cheap and the documentary can be had on iTunes for like $10 so the price between the set and getting everything separately may not be that big. That's something to consider. I already own the originals, so I'm just getting the Fury Road steelbook and probably eventually getting the Madness of Max documentary at some other time.

I've seen all but the last episode of season 2 of true detective and have no idea what he's talking about. His post doesn't even mention true detective, for all I knew he was talking about The Cell or something. Yours did though, so you've done far more to ruin things than he did!

Got it early in the mail from best buy. Steel cases edition. Needless to say, this movie was really something. Had a throwback feel to it, like when filmmakers had good original ideas and universe.

I wish 3D editions would get some steelbook lovin' in the US. I didn't get the excellent Edge of Tomorrow steel because of this and now looks like I won't be getting the Mad Max steelbook.

Really don't know which version to choose. Either steel book or Target one. Which do you guys think looks better?

I want to wait until Black Friday but I don't think I can. World War Z 3D was $15 on BF. Lego 3D was $10 on BF. I bought both retail last year when they were released. So hard waiting though...

Steelbook for sure... Looks great and imo no one needs the blu-ray sized comic they are going to squeeze into the packaging at Target.

I wouldn't go that far. I ran out of toilet paper today and my Amazon cottonella shipment doesn't arrive for 3-5 days.

I've just had to bend over and accept this and start buying both the steelbook and 3D editions.

I'm starting to do this recently because i'm sick of the going back and forth choosing one or the other and then regretting it, etc. Just gotta make sure the movie is worth it i guess.
