Yeah agreed. I've had to return about 5 sets of drums because the hits don't all register. It's truly a rare thing to have a perfectly working set. When you get one hold on to that baby like it's your child and touch it gently with your sticks for it is a delicate flower.

Very true. They have the add-on cymbols so it's much worth getting a first party under-warranty drumset and adding the extra things you want to it.

And as an electronic drumset that Ion Kit is probably not the greatest. A decent one is thousands and has hundreds of different presets and tunings.

I'm just going to get the $60 RB2 game and use the RB1 instruments. If Sony can really get all of the game manufactures to support universal instruments, I'll wait to see how nice and compatible the GH:WT drums are to RB2 and maybe buy those some time in the future. It would have been nice if RB2 drums came with crash cymbols, but they decided to not go that route.

The added benefits in the instruments for RB2 do not match the added cost of upgrading from the RB1 instruments. It's a no go for launch...At least for me.

I can't imagine playing RB2 on the GHWT drums to be honest.

The GHWT drums are laid out as

Tom - cymbal - tom - cymbal - tom

Which means you're going to have to have translate in your head one notes that you would normally hit on a pad into one of the cymbals.

The opposite isn't necessarily true, on the other hand. Playing GHWT with compressed 4-tom notecharts should feel very natural since the on-screen order will match the sensors in from of you on the controller.

Ah, they're not even in the right order? Forget that then. My mind can't do THAT much processing.

I must admit that I DID go back and take a look at the new drum set again for RB2 and there are two things I liked: Wireless and the expansion ports for the cymbal and high-hat.

Well, take a look for yourself and decide.

Guitar Hero World Tour drums:

The color order on the GHWT drums are Red/Yellow/Blue/Orange/Green, with yellow and orange being cymbals.

Rock Band's drums are 4 x toms, Red/Yellow/Blue/Green. So your yellow tom in Rock Band becomes a yellow cymbal on the GHWT set. Not particularly intuitive IMO.

Posted this in the RB1 megathread, but there's a snippet about RB2 as well!

File under "very strong rumor" until it's officially confirmed, but Hollywood Insider claims to know what all 6 albums coming for the rest of the year for Rock Band are.

http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2008/...and-2-ful.html

Foo Fighters // The Colour and the Shape
Red Hot Chili Peppers // Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Jane's Addiction // Nothing's Shocking
Megadeth // Peace Sells... But Who's Buying
Stevie Ray Vaughn // Texas Flood
No Doubt // Best of, Rock Band Edition

Also from that link, take a sneak peek at the Rock Band 2 opening cinematic!

Seems a little odd to release that Foo Fighters album when Everlong has been announced for RB2. I certainly hope this happens but dont want to get my hopes up.

Why is that odd? HMX put Wave on Mutilation on RB1 and then released the whole Doolittle album....

And they were going to release "Moving Pictures" by Rush, which include Limelight and Tom Sawyer. Granted, they would have been masters of the those songs which were originally covers, but still the same songs.

I'm still pissed there were problems with the Rush release. Ugh.

And out of those albums I'm definitely getting Megadeth, Foo Fighters, and Stevie. I'll have to check up on which songs are on the Jane's and RHCP albums because I'm unfamiliar what songs are on them.

OK. So a couple of questions:

Are all of the instruments going to be sold seperately at launch? I'd like to buy just the game, the drums and the cymbals. If so, how much?

Any word on the cost associated to moving the RB1 songs into RB2? How much hard drive space will be required?
