Pretty silly of them to only stock a limited amount and have it run out the moment the store opens. They really need to have a one per person limit on these, so the scalpers won't grab them all like vultures.
If they were just limited and sold out, that's one thing, but a very large number of stores did so at the expense of the pre-order holders, who are left with nothing. That's what gets my goat.

I've never been. So disappointed in a bluray prep with this much Hype.

I did not see it in theatres. I am an hour in. Spouse is on bathroom break.

No Dolby atmos intro. Horribly ugly menus with no attention to detail. Simple cut and paste with colour coding.

Disappointed.

Movie so far is incredible, my monitor 11s and adp 390s going mad.

Edit: best buy steelbook. Canadian stores have all kinds.

This was my first BB pre-order. Suffice it to say it'll also be my last unless BB manages to pull a 24 karat rabbit out of their hat. They've clearly demonstrated they can't be trusted and don't deserve my time (of which pre-ordering weeks ago and waiting to get nothing today currently stands at 90 minutes in store).

When you advertise a pre-order program as a way to guarantee your copy of a limited release, how hard is it to ensure this happens? You only had one job, BestBuy!

Thanks. Looks like I'll be returning mine for a new one tomorrow. The 3D and picture look great though. I'll make sure I can test mine at BB just to make sure I have a good one and there's not a lot problem.

May I ask what your experience was? I wonder if it was as god awful as mine was!?

I pre-ordered my steelbook in store on August 14. Tonight I went to go pick it up and they had me waiting around for 15 minutes while they were "looking for it". Finally, they came back and started shuffling around in the back closets of the customer service area and pull one out, it has a sticker on it with someone else's name. I asked, well, I'm here, I pre-ordered it, why can't you give me that one and then tell THAT GUY that you don't have it when he comes to pick his up? Why are you holding onto a copy for him, when you don't have one for me? They refused to give it to me. I asked when this guy pre-ordered it, and they said August 31. He pre-ordered it YESTERDAY!?!? I preordered it 2 and a half weeks before he did, and I'm here now while he's not, so why can't you just give me the damn blu-ray and then when he comes, give him the same BS story you're giving me right now about how you don't have it?

Needless to say, nobody in that store was willing to give it to me. So here I set at home now, and I didn't get my pre-ordered steelbook.

I'm going to complain to Best Buy about this tomorrow.

Bought the 3D version at Walmart. I'm sure the price will drop, but the love and craft put into the film deserves respect.

That, and I had a $25 gift card to burn.

The dialogue was soft for me during the parts you watched when I saw this theatrically. Now I have to wait till I get my receiver back from Onkyo....the dreaded HDMI issue....for a third time, to check this out.

I dont know if its me or not but the PQ seemed jittery, it seemed like it was intentional and only seemed like it was the action scenes, the still scenes were just fine so I guess it was intentional.

Can anyone else comment?

I just dont remeber it being this way in theater, maybe Im wrong

Hi! I got the steelbook (Mexico) and everything is great, but I've been hearing about the sound in the 3D version. Is it atmos 7,1? Or just 5.1? Thanks!

Sure.

I pre-ordered nearly 3 weeks ago. The day I went to my local store to place the order they couldn't find the pre-order cards. I was fortunate enough to find a determined (and not preoccupied) rep in the TV section who, after nearly a half hour of searching, managed to find one in the back room.

I went back to the same location this evening to pick up the title. I had already read that some people were having problems with their pre-orders, so when it became clear that the folks at the customer service desk were having trouble finding my title behind their pickup desk, I knew my experience would likely end up the same. They checked stock on the floor, and one tried to explain it was sold out (what's the point of a pre-order, then?). They looked in their back stock, and eventually sent the manager out, who apologized and told me that they'd not gotten any from the distributor due to high demand - I suspect this was made up excuse. He said he was authorized to make me an offer (I could see a printed out memo from what I assume is corporate). Standard combo plus $10 gc for my trouble. I was tempted but I figure that accepting it would give me no recourse should more stock magically appear, so I declined the offer and decided to sit on my preorder a little while longer to see what happens.

Before I left, they also checked other local stores, with no luck. Ironically, one of them sold their last copy minutes before this store called them. I could have driven there straight and grabbed a copy from the shelf and been home before I left this store tonight!

All of tonights experience took about an hour, so I've spent 90 minutes trying to get a copy of this stinkin' release and have nothing to show for it. To their credit, all but one of the employees I dealt have been pleasant - one was even advocating for me as we waited, bless her heart. However, it's really not much consolation considering how much time I've wasted on this.

Your experience would have infuriated me, and I'm a pretty patient person. I'd suggest you call corporate (1.888.237.8289) and share your experience - unless they're forced to confront this, the next popular pre-order will likely end up the same. Not that I intend to find out...

Yeah, that's the consensus I've gotten with Beyond Thunderdome. The problem is that now that I own 3/4, I'm basically obligated to buy it to satiate the rabid completist in me.

It may not be on par with it's predecessors, but I think Beyond Thunderdome is a fun diversion. Just go into it knowing it's aiming at a wider (read younger) audience.

Did anyone else get a smudge when they took off the price sticker on the top right of the 3D slipcover that won't come off?

Are you talking about the undercranking of the camera where the action moves faster than normal? This was done intentionally. The other mad maxes had solar shots.

The DP used alternating frame rates and shutter speeds to create different visual styles throughout. That's what you are noticing.

To remove the stickers on the lenticular cover or not to remove the stickers on the lenticular cover, that is the question...
