Because of the gift box, there wasn't enough room in the box so they were laid on the sides instead of flat which is better for packaging to prevent disc floaters. Somewhat disappointed because I wasn't planning on opening these.
Exact same situation as you; R&G and 1/4 were on the side, and loose discs in both I had planned on keeping those sealed as well

What I didn't like was that the steels were vertical in mine and against the inside walls of the box, so if anything hit hard against the sides, the steel was getting a one way ticket to dentsville.

I guess you have a point but the label is at the top of the box so chances are it is getting dropped more with the label facing up. Just my personal experience. I've shipped many steelbooks and I always avoid placing steelbooks on their side in a box for this reason.

If a cheap, free box is going to change how they have to ship nearly $200 worth of steels, I'll definitely be requesting NO BOX with my one-clicks in the future.
I went for the one click for BH6. I agree. If the box takes up most of the space inside of the packing box, I would rather not have the box and any loose discs. I can at least try to place the discs back in the 1/4 slip but the Rocket & Groot I'm SOL.

It's disappointing but not the end of the world but it is making me reconsider BH6 one click.

I'm saying they make the "free box" purposely fit all three steels and then put them in the box, wrap everything up nice and secure and ship it out like that. Don't wrap everything individually.

I say it that way because the GotG gift box doesn't fit all three steels exactly. The box is a little shallow for the lid to fit precisely even. Also there is a lot of free space inside the gift box. Either use foam to suck up that space or fix the dimensions so it's more snug. I love the idea of the gift box, but it needs to be designed properly

Yep. Until they do though (not holding my breath), I'll politely ask Kevin to exclude the box. For me, I want the steels shipped properly much more than I want a decorative box that I'll just give away anyway.

Wow so surprised to hear about the packaging for the tri-pack with free GOTG box. I honestly would have thought that they would have placed all 3 versions inside the box and then package it up that way instead of placing the steels outside

My packing box was pretty beat up. Maybe it would help to put some type of fragile sticker or stamp on the box?

Good idea, but most Chinese don't read English...

And nearly all USPS workers CAN'T read English.

Besides, a Fragile sticker on any box is a red flag to toss the box around as much as possible.

Think it gets the point across regardless of the language you know

Well if they are being tossed around with no sticker now I can't see how a sticker would make matters worse.

I can tell you first hand that a fragile sticker in most cases does more harm than good...you wouldn't think so, but it does.

This! It's almost as if it becomes a game to delivery people once they see a fragile sticker. "I wonder how many tosses before I hear something rattle inside."

Received my 1click just now. Good news and bad news!
Good news is all three steelbooks arrived in crispy mint condition. #377

Bad new, the gift box was not so lucky! Looks like something sharp punched a whole in the shipping box, which might have caused the damage. All four items were wrapped with bubble wrap, so I'm sure it's one of those instances of my package being in the wrong place at the wrong time during transit! Despite the damage its still a very neat looking box and holds all here copies!
I'm still very happy to have the set! It all looks pretty amazing together! I will take the wounded box into my laboratory and see if I can work a little repair magic!
Very thankful for Kevn and BluFans for another stellar release!
