Huh? Do tell. Pictures if you can. Exclusive to Best Buy steelbooks of horror films? Please clarify.

Thanks.

^^^^^
The only Best Buy exclusive horror that I am aware of is the way they handled the Mad Max Fury Road steelbook preorders.

Ugh, after stringing me along for a few days, my store finally indicated that they aren't receiving any more shipments of the steelbook. Really should have just placed an order online to hedge my bets when it was briefly available on Wednesday, but I had (misplaced) faith in my store, as I've shopped their quite a bit for the past decade.

Speaking as a corporate henchman myself (for a restaurant chain), this type of corporate cluster**** is something that a measly $10 GC won't fix.

I wanted it left on the regular steelbook section to try and avoid the freeloading lurkers and get it to a collector, but someone moved it. I even OK'd it with neoz prior to putting it up, he even put a note on it to not move it.

Now it's in the collection sub forum, lol, come on guys....

Why are people going so crazy over this steelbook? I always here how the U.S. Steelbooks aren't all that special and the ones to collect are the ones from Europe and Asia. Yes people are going gaga for these. Why? Especially if they won't go up in value or become collectibles. Why?

Because some people in the US don't want to spend $65+ for a steelbook. They are just as content spending $21 and saving the rest to by more US steelbooks. Sure the US ones aren't always the best but I think many want to support the US Steelbook industry and at least try to show that there is interest here. In the long run why does it matter where people buy their SB's from? If they enjoy them really that is all that matters imo.

This. I bought it because I liked it. It might be a surprise to some, but increase in value or collectibility isn't a concern for a lot of people. We buy something because we like it and want to own it, and have no intention to sell it for profit. Not sure why that's hard for some people to understand.

Wel I missed mine because of the whole not enough steelbook fiasco, but I did get 10 dollars in certificates because of the error, so I used those plus a another 5 dollar cert and got the 3D version for $12.99, can't complain about that. Those that did get theirs, congrats and enjoy

#1. Those Asian imports are like three times the price, and from my understanding it isn't as simple as just buying it from the site. You need to organize a group buy to even get one.

#2. The value is already there for the MM:FR steel. It's on sale for $20 (or was, when it was in-stock) and is currently selling for $60 on eBay.

But the price for the Asian SB's are higher because they are fair better quality then the US ones. There is not arguing against that. While I have a very large US SB's collection. Most of the collectors have started to move toward the Asian ones because they are much nicer. The old adage still rings true; you get what you pay for. The only ones you really need to do a GB for are the Blufan ones. And thank goodness our GB seller here is awesome.
Nova, Plain, and Kimchi's you can buy direct from their sites. Granted the numbers are limited but you still don't have to do GB's for those. Again most members here support both buying US steelbooks and importing. It is just that US ones aren't the greatest of quality and have started to get cheaper and cheaper when they first came out here. I mean Mad Max for example has issues closing. That really doesn't help the image of US steelbooks.

Also as far as price? The price is only high for this SB mainly because of the low print run. If there would have been as many as say the FF steelbooks then it wouldn't be fetching the high price. Not only that but again, resellers snatched up many as well. Again another reason why I dislike BB not stopping people from buying one a per customer. At least make it harder for the scalpers.

$60 is better than the psycho selling it for $200!

I talked with a manager here and told him about the Guardians of the Galaxy fiasco and showed him pics of people buying 10+ at a time. He said he'll start enforcing a 1 or 2 exclusive per customer, and since then, I haven't had any issues going into a Best Buy and grabbing one, Fury Road excluded. (We didn't get a single one)

If the current price of this BB steelbook is $60 at ebay then it is better to wait for the inevitable HDZeta relase late this year which could be in the same price range. I am sure that one includes a nice packaging with some extra photobooklets and artcards. It could also include a world exclusive artwork, glossy finish and maybe some embossing/debossing.
