Thanks but I am well aware of the Ariel ride at the US parks, after all The Little Mermaid is my favourite film. Whilst the show is technically titled The Little Mermaid the episode compilation VHS releases for the show gave it the subtitle Ariel's Undersea Adventures. I grew up re-watching these episodes on VHS and so I often refer to the show by this subtitle. Obviously the ride came much later.

Even the Aladdin show got an extended title when episodes debuted on VHS, Aladdin's Arabian Adventures. It would be great to have these shows in their complete form in the very least on DVD; considering they're two very popular Disney properties with well loved characters I find it strange that Disney hasn't given them a proper release already since their early 90s VHS debuts.

Granted I wouldn't consider these shows as canon even if others would disagree in the same way I don't consider any of the DTV/Toon Studios sequels as canon to the original WDAS features. This is especially apparent with the continuities errors between TLM and certain events that happened in the show and one rather striking error between something in the show and the 2008 prequel Ariel's Beginning. However, they do carry some good nostalgia and it would be great to be able to own them to revisit whenever and to be frank if the likes of Hunchback II and Atlantis II can warrant a Blu release then I can't see any reason these shows can't get one either, the quality of animation across both is exactly the same. Give them some nice sparkly packaging with bright colours and you've got a sale!

Anyhow I shall watch out for any announcements regarding the the sequels!

If i "couldn’t care less", then i would care so little about something that it would be impossible for me to care any less than you do. If "I could care less", however, I am saying, literally, that it is possible for me to care less than I care now. Your description of what “could care less” means is correct. But a comment, such as yours stating “Since we are talking about home 3D being dead i could care less about what studios do theatrically” , makes no sense contextually. I’ve never seen someone say “I could care less” who isn’t trying to connote that they *don’t care* about something. “I could care less” is grammatically correct, but it makes no sense if you’re trying to convey that you have little or no concern or don’t care about something.

When someone is happy, they don’t say “I could be happier!” Yes, that would be grammatically correct, and indicating you could be happier doesn’t literally mean you don’t presently have any level of happiness. But it would make no sense if the point you’re trying to emphasize is that you’re very happy. The correct phrase would be “I couldn’t be happier!”

Same thing with “could care less.” If you’re emphasis is on generally not caring, what you would say is “I couldn’t care less.”

Aren't they already doing that? I know Inside Out and Wreck-it are on Ultimate collectors edition, as well as a few others, or is this something else.

I mean I'm not being unrealistic I'm not expecting to see Robin Hood in 3D or anything, and I (almost) give up on the idea that Disney releases Alice and Dumbo on Diamond, but other than 4k and the Vault system being thrown out the window, what CAN one really expect.

I'm wondering how much of the problems with films like Cinderella are tied to the color capability of BD vs that of 4K. I don't think we see Disney 3D anymore unless it was originally released in 3D, but there's no 4K spec for it so that kinda kills it. It's a bummer because they finally got 3D right. I remember as a kid trying to watch 3D King Kong on TV with those glasses from 7-11. What a mess that was. That never worked. I was like, what the heck?

On this next round I think we get everything in the animation collection and that will be it. Being the last physical format, they'll put them in the vault and let them back out again over time. Should save them a fortune not having to do another format yet again. Maybe they call them the "Masters Collection" or something. If it had a sequel, as they've done with some, you probably just get a digital copy of those along with the original film.

I'd like to see their live action films and older Disney shorts on BD but so far that's been the real disappointment. I have a few of the shorts from back in the day on iTunes, but there haven't been the animated collections we saw on DVD. I'd love to get my hands on all the cartoons along with some stuff like the old Mickey Mouse Club. I've picked up one or two digital versions of some of the live action stuff, but they look horrible. No cleaning up at all. Davy Crockett is a mess, but The Love Bug that was released on BD looks great so they must being doing something with these older films. I know that's an expensive proposition, but they should be protecting everything in their catalog and at least put it out on Disney Digital. While everything is largely for sale on Disney Digital, some are just in really bad shape.

I agree with you on the shorts, I would LOVE to see Der Fuhrer's face in HD, that's my favorite Disney short! I know that they are having a silly symphony box set coming up:

But I agree the restorations scare me. Though considering how old these things are it's not like their restored easily, and besides I'm sure the guys restoring them aren't wholly satisfied either, but at this point I'm just happy were getting them at all. I'd rather have a C grade restoration of Cinderella than no Cinderella at all.

For now I just want Disney to release some movies of blu ray titles in my collection that are worn out and need replacing (Snow White, Alice, Tangled, Beauty and the Beast, etc.), regardless if they're in the vault. I would buy them now but If they're planning to put all of these films on "Masters" whatever, I'm willing to be patient. I've waiting this Long for Aladdin after all!

Why does it seem unlikely? They're coming out in Japan, they'll surely come out in the U.S. in November or December.

They released the sequels to Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and The Jungle Book and Bambi on Blu in the US shortly after their Diamond editions. . . so don't count them out.

I'm sorry but the inclusion of 3D and/or being cheaper does not make a release superior.

This is all a matter of perception. If one disk has better audio in the UK and only includes 2D, and the US release of the same movie has better video and a 3d disk, which is superior? To some audio is more important, and to others video is more important. Having 3D included definitely means a release is superior to me.

Well I'm thinking this based off the last Diamond edition which was 101 Dalmations. The sequel was released at the same time at DMC and Target (I think) and we knew about it beforehand. Since we've heard nothing so far and Aladdin is a month away I'm not holding my breath. We know unfortunately that even if Disney releases something elsewhere that certainly doesn't guarantee a US release.

I've just seen the best buy exclusive. Now I'm torn if I wanna get the regular version with all the characters or the best buy version with just the geanine and Aladdin.

Well the best buy version just has a different slipcover. The cover in the case should be the same as the regular version, I think. The special features listed a couple posts up don't specifically mention a tribute, so that's uncertain.
