Even though I really don't want to make anymore since I now have a couple of spindles of them, so around 100+. Tons of titles unavailable on Blu-ray but when a decent HD master is available I put it onto Blu-ray. It's usually similar to an AVCHD where you put the BD25 in and the movie just plays. Sure I do find some subtitles for them.
I'd rather just have these be properly released though from any company around the planet. Except I'm still keeping some of the alternate cuts/versions I find of certain movies. More of a fan hobby and frees up hard drive space. ESPECIALLY for sequels unavailable on Blu-ray anywhere on the planet.

But that's for another thread.
I was thinking the same thing and immediately went looking for Ghoulies III in the usual places but was unable to find it... yet. I currently own it on my Lionsgate 8 film collection and would happily re-buy a blu ray (along with 100 other titles Lionsgate is sitting on) but for now it appears BDMV's are the only way to go.

That's unfortunately true and sometimes I enjoy looking through them, need another Targus fancy disc holder the one where 4 discs can fit on each side of a page with nice leather on it, every once in awhile.
Reminds me how lazy sometimes how some of the Studios can be withholding releases when HD content exists.

You can be be a film geek WITHOUT obsessing about white specks, bit rates or whether or not a film had or didn't have a green tint in 1980. The truth is, we, as film buffs, never had it so good when it comes to film presentation. I'm glad I wasn't collecting back in the VHS days when, after paying $90 for a tape, we had the luxury of sitting through our favorite films in pan and scam and mono sound. Of course, we couldn't sit too far away from our awesome 19 inch TV's because, if we did, we wouldn't be able to make out the action through all the fuzz. A "high end" movie experience was paying $150 for 12 inch gold-plated discs that had to be flipped over 4 times during the film. But you needed an expensive pair of speakers to be able to hear the soundtrack over the clanking of the mechanics of the Laser player. Folks, all I'm saying is, sit back and just enjoy your movies - leave the armchair analysis and nitpicking to the reviewers.

I remember those days as well, and I agree with you to a point. But it's a bit of the old I-used-to-walk-20-miles-in-the-snow cliche. So what if I had to walk 20 miles in the snow to get to school when I was a kid? I shouldn't expect my car to run properly now? You know, I didn't pay $1,500 for a nice TV so that I could get a viewing experience that's marginally better than VHS. I do get what you're saying about nitpicking, but if any of these issues get to the point where they affect one's ability to enjoy a movie with the present technology, especially issues that are fixable, I think they're worth pointing out.

Ignorance is bliss sometimes when it comes to AV. I lowered my expectations for the most part because there is no use getting frustrated over something that is out of my control. Do I hope that all the output is done to the best of their abilities? Yes of course but reality is different.

Rather see titles yet to be released on BD before constant churning. More then happy with my Arrow DOTD BD pack.

I'd like to see about 50+ of my wishlist first, starting with a Phantasm set. Never understand wanting the same titles over and over while so many are stuck on dvd or even vhs still

I will honestly say that I prefer the AB UK Phantasm DVD over the weird ghosting Dawn on Blu-ray from AB/Arrow. Though you can pry my Happinet Dawn theatrical cut disc from my cold dead hands.

Either way it's already on BD. I'm happy with mine, you're happy with yours. Now let's get our wishlist on BD.....

Speaking of Phantasm... I found one of these on e-bay this past week and noticed there's no mention of it here on the site. Anyone ever have the chance to check it out? Bootleg of upscaled DVD's or something else?

[Show spoiler]
According to the back cover it's released by Starlight film, has a 4:3 aspect ratio, and all four films are on one single sided disc. Most likely a bootleg.

Hey guys. I got my first order that I've ever placed directly from Shout before in the mail yesterday but the two blus (The Legacy and The Sentinel) had spine crush from shipping. I sent Shout an e-mail about it but haven't heard back yet. Anyone dealt with them before?

Is there any chance they'll send me replacement artwork? The discs are fine and I have replacement cases I can use.

Amazon.de themselves are selling it, so I'm not sure it's a bootleg. It's probably just another terrible upscaled German release, which there are many.

Possibly but they seem to be one of those mysterious companies you can't find any information about them.

If that Phantasm set is legit, it could be a precursor to a US set. They made a 5th film - a complete box set is only a matter of time I should think.

The database here lists 11 titles from them, including Halloween and The Hills Have Eyes.

Never blind buy a German release from a non-major studio without reading reviews/thoughts from others first. It's too risky, considering all of the SD content that's been released there.

I checked DVDProfiler and the profile confirms that the aspect ratio is 1.33:1 and that all four films were crammed onto one single BD-25. This is a release I'll stay far away from just for those facts alone.

Contact them on Face book if you don't here from them directly. I merely mentioned that one of my cases was messed up in a comment indirectly one time and they immediately encouraged me to contact customer service to get a replacement. I told them I was just happy to have the films and since I had a bunch of extra cases around i wasn't worried about it, but I've heard many similar stories, so I think with a bit of time you should hear something from them.

I ordered The Funhouse from Amazon as a part of a bigger order batch. I initially told myself that there was no need to own this movie, after having owned the DVD years ago, but the force kept pulling me in. I've heard that the movie looks great in high definition, and that's what pulled me in.
