Hard to believe we're finally moving forward with Luke Skywalker vs the Empire's storyline instead of backwards. Lucas deserves credit for creating the first three movies, some good ideas in the prequels, and selling the rights to a new, powerful Empire named Disney.

Really looking forward to this one since it was announced. Kylo Ren will hopefully survive as a major villain like Darth Vader was in each of the original 3 films, depending on his performance; hopefully it's believable.
The first run of most of his collectible figures is sold out.

Prequels:
Ewan McGregor's performance as Obi Wan makes watching the prequel movies worthwhile, among other positive notes, like the action and especially the saber fights, which were awesome in the prequels.

The only way I would want to go backwards again is if Darth Vader is in full costume with the helmet in each episode movie, but instead it was something different that didn't focus on the growing, seething anger of Anakin like it could have been. It was mostly hinted at while the rest was just adventures with Anakin and Obi Wan. When Episode III started and Obi Wan and Anakin were still friends, and Anakin was joking and having another adventure, there was no way it could smoothly transition him to the darkside of Vader in a full costume within 2 hours... I would've started the series at episode III instead of episode I, then create two new episodes with Darth Vader (in full costume) at the very least, but Lucas was in charge so that's that.

I'm not talking about the makers of LotR. I'm talking about the inclusion of the fan club members. If you've ever tried to sit through that (as I do), it's rather tedious to see nothing but random names on the screen for minutes and minutes on end.

I know I shouldn't judge others for skipping the credits, but I do. I'm human. We tend to judge other humans. Heh

More people will sit through the credits if there's something entertaining happening, like an enjoyable song, or something visual to look at, like a recap of what happened earlier in the movie, or retakes, bloopers, etc.

Or they could just let the audience know as the credits start, "Wait till after the credits for a special preview" and then most people will sit through even boring credits to see what the big deal is.

I think they're inclusion was a bonus for membership into the Fan Club. I'm sure the people involved are thrilled to see their names. I just sit through them to see if anybody's name matching my own. It doesn't!

Lucas re-popularized the inclusion of closing credits after removing the opening credits for the first two Star Wars movies, he was fined for the privilege and gave up his director's union membership.

Okay, when did this thread turn into an argument about the merits of staying for the closing credits? Honestly? If people don't stay for the credits that means they aren't "worthy" of seeing the film at all? Really? I don't even watch the freaking credits at home unless they have something cool over them like special animation or clips and such. Really this is just pointless shaming going on. Movies, I love them dearly, are not food. You aren't going to die if you don't watch a film. There are no adverse health effects from not watching a film. Calling someone a "Joe Six-pack" for not staying through the credits is just obnoxious name calling and self aggrandizing snobbery. And the "tipping" metaphor? Please stuff it and get over yourselves. If there is indeed a nice teaser for Rogue One at the end of The Force Awakens then yes I'll stay by all means, but otherwise it's not a big deal if I leave before the credits are done and the story, which is what I'm really there for, is over.

Work on it. It's one thing to pass judgment on a murderer or just someone who is a nasty person all around, but on someone whose only "crime" is not staying through film credits? That is not a big enough deal. Heck, it's not even a crime.

Didn't he say he was the first to do a proper credits roll-up on American Graffiti? The DGA gave him dispensation for leaving off above-the-line opening credits for the first Star Wars but wouldn't allow him to do the same thing on Empire which is why he left the guild.

Fair enough. Perhaps I got carried away with all that. Obviously it's a personal preference, and I've somehow made it a pet peeve of mine when others don't share that preference. Not cool. My bad.

I'll work on it. It's not the end of the world if someone is ready to move on when they see the credits roll. On TV, they give no respect to credits most of the time, so there is no consistency, and a lot of movies put zero thought into making their credits interesting. I can see the other side of the argument. Sorry for the harsh judgement.

Now back to Star Wars.

I can't believe it's still over three months until this movie opens. For now, I'll keep watching The Clone Wars series and hopefully pick up and play Battlefront when that launches.

Dude, no hard feelings here. My pet peeve is when others are made to feel "lesser than" just for not sharing a popular viewpoint, or even an unpopular one. Especially on entertainment and art. Everybody has their own unique outlook on these things and it is not a life or death matter.

I'll be staying for the end credits, but the sole reason will be for a little bit more of that sweet John Williams score.

Can't wait to hear it.

Cool. I was waiting for him to break into an awesome series of saber moves, but he just stood there. Even so, great animation of the wind hitting the cloth.

Anyone have a pair of 3D glasses? Check this out from the 3D version of the movie trailer Star Wars VII.

Kylo Ren reaching out with the Force.

I wonder if Kylo Ren will keep his mask on the entire movie like Darth Vader.
