Someone on this forum said they thought Laser was discontinued, and the Best Buy guy I talked to said they haven't heard a word about it (which probably doesn't mean much), but no one ever answers when I ask about it. The same guy was saying the new DLP's with LED had a lot of advantages over the old DLP (better colors with deep blacks), and that may have taken Laser's place. I was looking forward to Laser, especially if it's comparable in quality to LCD and comparable in price to old DLP's.

Before anyone says it...I can't afford to save thousands of dollars for Plasma.

Why save thousands?
You can get a 50" 1080p plasma from Panasonic for $1,500 (TH-50PZ80U)

Laser DLP is certainly not discontinued.

Mitsubishi showed off their 65" model at CES 2008 and their sets are supposed to start shipping this fall, so anytime between September 21st to December 21st.

Holy...damn.

That can't be an actual image of the Laser set, can it. F^@* the LED DLP if Laser actually does look that good...but what about $$$ ?

P.S. What the hell is with this Plasma guy?

Which one, the "you have to be blind and insane if you don't think I have the best TV" plasma guy, or the illiterate "PLZMA4EVR" one?

That's where I would disagree. With most material it's pretty instant to spot the differences between the good LCD's and good plasma's.

The realism is so much more recognizable on a plasma. It's more of a window into HD than a television screen like LCD is.

2.40:1 material is thoroughly enjoyable on a plasma. I've never seen an LCD allow the black bars to disappear like a plasma can, unless the screen goes totally dark...and even then; with plasma you go into space, fully and completely.

Yes that is an image from Mitsubishi's gallery.
As for pricing, the only technology you'll find that is cheaper is DLP.
It's designed to be competitively priced with plasma and LCD.
The 65" panny Viera plasma (TH-65PZ750U) lists at $6,999.

As for your post scriptum - please read Brain Sturgeon's post here - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...7&postcount=82

No one is going to comment on how much heat Plasma's generate? Again, I think plasmas look the best, but I don't want to get one because I can't imagine how uncomfortable the living room would be (especially in summer).

Air conditioning? Ever hear of it? I have mine on in the summer, who doesn't? It would be on whether there was a plasma in there or not.

Plasmas generate heat, but the way people talk about it, you would think that you have molten lava in your living room. Jeez.
