I might have been totally wrong, was kinda sleepy watching it tbh.

I thought....
[Show spoiler] .... that it was, in fact, a signal of survivors. But once the father mentions the light it to the commander, the next thing we see is gunfire in the same location at night. I took it as though the commander sent troops to check out the light and killed whomever was there. This further reinforces the realization that these military guys have gone rogue and that they just don't want to bother with any survivors outside the fence....

This episode was the worse of the four, it felt uneven. Curious if you are Madison do you tell Travis what's going on outside the fence and remain inside or do you leave anyway into the unknown? I kinda feel remaining enclosed (inside the fence) will be the death of many...

Yes I also thought of that as well. Military doing cleanup, but the flashing would have stopped w the shooting and the last flashing was done at night I think so even less probable, but the flashing at night was just gunfire. Idk I guess we will have to wait and see what's happening in the building next week.

Imo,
[Show spoiler]it was the military going out and cleaning up. And the flashing was gunfire. They were killing whoever was in the building. The look on the CPT. face when Travis said there was people out there.
There is something going on and they are trying to cover it up. I think they are using the people in the containment camp as guinea pigs. Usually when a "Government" doctor shows up...yeah not good. One would figure that military doctors would be good enough but then this lady, I'm guessing from the CDC is there. Who knows...I'm not thinking any good will come from this next episode. And only 2 more...boo it'll be a long wait for Season 2.

Great episode.

[Show spoiler]
I think Madison is pretty pissed at the clearly rogue soldiers now that they kidnapped Nick and she is gonna get out and slap them hard.

And I really hope Travis dies soon, can't stand that dumb moron.

For sure, as someone that has medical background, she seems way too fishyyy. Especially considering the junkie kid was taking all the morphine from the old guy and the old guy was stable for the move w.out anything extra to give him... I think the old guy might have already dead which is why the junkie kid was like wth is going on.

I think they are taking the trouble people out of the containment zone just to make sure there are zero liabilities no matter how small they are. Each time someone shows signs of anything, they will be taken to the cdc labs instead of a real hospital for further testing of the virus. I think they might be thinking that some of these survivors might hold a resistance to the virus since some where infected in the neighbor and others don't and they are assuming its airborne or something. The real ones that are going to die they will let them turn to further test their theories on how to stop it. I'm partly basing this on the episode of the CDC from TWD and imagining the beginnings of the studies on the focal points of infections.

IMO I don't see these soldiers as rogue, just soldiers that have been given green light to stabilize things and they have already killed and have seen their friends killed as well + they know much more of whats happening, the zombies resistance, and they are trying to keep calm and they use defense mechanisms to cope with the deaths and killing of civilians, friends and family members. If they were rogue we wouldn't see them have so many trucks and new rations. Sure HQ is sending reduce items, but that is globally and they know it , but the civilians don't and they want to keep things as calm as possible so as not to have to kill anyone else. Just look at the barber, he knows the death need to be killed and didn't bat an eye when shooting one in the head, and these soldiers have done and seen much more. War makes you think of life and death differently. You desensitize to cope with the changes, its inevitable. Just look at the cast of TWD they don't bat an eye now to kill whomever to survive.

I thought it was pretty straight forward about the end...
[Show spoiler]the shooting was the military who were cleaning out the building after Travis gave them the heads up and Travis in seeing the gun fire realizes he sold them out to die; it's a light bulb moment for him and his denial of what's going on is over. I would compare what the military is doing to what they do in forest fire fighting...cleaning out trees/brush that is in the path of the fire to stop it from spreading(buffer zone)...the trees just happen to be people in this case and they know they can't take in every one even of they wanted to(I don't think they care either way at this point). Most likely they are experimenting on people to see if they can cure it.

I want Nick to die.

I don't get why they are so forgiving and babying of that junkie!!!!

[Show spoiler] Travis is a moron, right now. But I would love to see him as a character that goes through a transformation and becomes a bad ass. That would be cool.

Tobias has a good sense of what was starting to happen and seemed to have a plan to be prepared for survival.

Probably just me, but I thought last night's episode was one of the best episodes in the entire Walking Dead franchise and it didn't have one walker in it!

Not just you - I liked it a lot. I don't want a series where society falls apart in three episodes and then it's just zombie near misses all of the time. There's still a government at this point and we already know they didn't handle this well, so it's interesting to see the military as a new actor on this stage. I think the dynamics between the characters are pretty interesting, too.

And the thought that something might happen to Nick warms my heart just a little bit.

They are all kind of annoying in their own way.. for me it's the daughter. She reminds me of the daughter from the first season of American Horror Story, who really bugged me lol

Being a NZer, I hope Cliff Curtis sticks around for the long haul.

I wasn't in love with this episode, but thought it was pretty decent. I was kinda disappointed they time jumped to
[Show spoiler]"there's a fence and everything outside is dead"
already. But overall I thought it was a decent episode.
Obviously the "slap attack" was a highlight.

I hope you guys are right about the
[Show spoiler]"they're all being isolated as a military experiment"
angle; that would actually be pretty cool.

I am having trouble keeping track of all the secondary characters, though.
[Show spoiler]Was the woman pretending to be a nurse the lead guy's ex-wife or the barber's daughter or a whole third character? And which girl is flirting with the soldier for medicine? Actually, just as I type this I think I'm figuring it out... Was THAT the barber's daughter? Because her mom has the busted leg?

[Show spoiler]Yes, Travis reported the signal to the military leader. Then at the end Travis was looking for the signal and saw the gunfire as whomever was signalling got executed by the soldiers.

I hope Nick, the Ex, and the barber's wife never come back. The show is better off without any of them.

Quite liked Ep4, I think it's finally picking up some momentum and some interesting plot (it was a bit boring and cliche up to this point for me). The best thing about TWD for me is the human drama and this episode started going that way with the military taking charge.

[Show spoiler]I quite like the barber character, although I'm baffled as to how he seems to know so much about the 'zombies' (like the headshot thing and that they're ''dead'', etc), like he's already seen TWD. Either that's bad writing or it gets resolved as to why he knows so much, with little experience (especially with the outbreak only just occurring).

I am going to give this one more episode and then I am out. Just cannot seem to get into it and the characters have done nothing but make me root for them to be eaten.
