why? the lossy stereo in the original bluray wasn't close to the theatrical mix?
I would think that now it will be the exact same mix, just in lossless format.

Let's hope then!
My understanding is that Warner / MPI have been doing new masters at 4K for some time now, just like the other majors. The key word there being "new", as in, masters started and finished in the last few years. Obviously, this also only applies to films where the material scanned was sufficient for 4K resolution (e.g. 35mm film elements).

didn't mean to confuse, I should have re-worded it. Some have said the DD track on the previous BLU lacks any punch to it, while the laserdisc audio seemed to sound much better. The mixes I would believe are the same, just not as vibrant as you would expect. Hopefully the DTS HD 2.0 track makes it sound as good as it can.

If they are creating an all new scan, hopefully it's released in time for this years holidays.

What we really need is a full fledged collection release of ALL the Vacation films (With or without the Ed Helms Vacation).

I have all four of them anyway. The other three are actually rather solid for both PQ and AQ, but they'd certainly benefit from 4K masters.

That's great. The problem is I barely see any of them in any store I go to, so releasing a collection set would benefit me a lot.

What's wrong with Amazon? All four were released with standard packaging. If price is a factor you can always get these set: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Plane...Blu-ray/98529/ and then buy the other two separately.

So nice to see a competent WB employee worded the back cover so they could get a single quote right / SARCASM since none of those exist

MAJOR ERROR found for rear cover art CHRISTMAS VACATION on WB press site

it says "the most fun-filled family Christmas ever.' tht is not correct

it is supposed to say "the most fun-filled old-fashioned family Christmas ever."

Amazon.ca has this listed with a November 3 release date (day and date with the god awful reboot/sequel whatever you call it), wonder if that means it's been bumped up or if we're getting it earlier here in Canada. The listing doesn't specify if it's the Steelbook or the Diamond Luxe edition, and I'm still debating between the two.

Very happy it appears to still be coming!

But I won't lie, VERY dissapointed in no new features. The greatest and most popular of them all has had the worst treatment in that department.

The greatest and most popular is National Lampoon's Vacation

Greatest is obviously a matter of opinion but in terms of popularity, even people that have never seen another film in the series have seen Christmas Vacation. It's on TV almost everyday for a month every year at Christmas time.

It's a very American thing I find, like a Christmas story.
The fan base is more American.

American "Christmas themed" films, steeped in American culture are "a very American thing"?

What's next? Sky is blue? Water is wet?

Ho ho ho Actually I have only seen glimpses of this flick at last or the year before christmas. I think our TV in Finland find it just like that, a little too American to show it enough.
