So, this friend of mine...Weak Will I call him endearingly...

He has not played Destiny since The Dark Below, and never beat Crota's End, actually and was asking me about getting back into Destiny, and I didn't have a clue how to answer, so I'm asking you fine fellows, and perhaps one or two ladies...

Assuming everything is as it was left, there are three guardians, probably two can be level 31 all geared up, two Warlocks, one Titan, a slew of year one exotics and raid gear and probably a few resources left, as well. What would you tell him to do, if he picked it back up?

I think some housekeeping is in order first, but what to keep what to discard? What can be gained immediately in the new content? Worth going back and playing old stuff? Worth deleting a Warlock and creating a Hunter to have one of each (and getting a trophy)?

I don't think there is a big hurry, other than to be able to play with some friends from time to time, and eventually the new raid and such, so long as the connection will allow.

I'm still working up the courage...

you can tell "weak will" to rest assured the latest content is leaps and bounds ahead of the original game.

as far as what to keep and what to get rid of......everything is down around 150-170 for attack on weapons.

same for any/all armor.

I only played the original game w/my Hunter and Titan, I ran through Crota's end and he's already up to about 195 light.

if I took him through House of Wolves, I'm sure he'd be up around 250 at least by the time I was done.

Crota's end is fun......it's a whole different experience than Atheon.

I'm sure your "friend" won't have any trouble finding guys here to help him out.

I'm pretty sure they've been waiting a long time for his help.

Got me a little taste, but I'm still pretty much clueless about any new stuff. All I did was visit the tower, the postmaster, dump as much of the inventory of one of my Warlocks into the vault, and delete the character. Started a new character and a new story, figured the natural progression of the material would figure me out what I ought to be doing. Level 4. Then the wife got home, and I kind of turned it down until I could turn it off. She doesn't know yet. Not that she will really care. It's more about losing face.

As expected, my DSL connection was nearly intolerably laggy. Wireless service fine, but I've two weeks and just over 20GB left.

I forgot that you could not play in secret. I feel inadequate in a tower full of level 40's. And damn, it felt pretty good, as well.

Got it. Goddamn. First run with my old clanmates was able to knock it out after a couple failed attempts with one of our newer guys.

My guess is that they didn't like us using the 310 to infuse our other specials so quick I think it should only be nerfed for the people who got it and were lower than 300 Light at the time, since exotics drop at 310 if you are 300+

Okay then. I played CE up to the point where there is some singer or such that marks you for death or something like that. A long time ago. I'd love a flawless raid. I'd even have fun playing Vault of Glass again. I do have some logistical issues to work out. And, I'm still not convinced I'm willing to play on the VT60 ever again, which impacts my time.

If I were to take the Warlock, now level 31 with mostly year old exotic and legendary weapons and a few Dark Below items, what is the most sensible way at this point in time to go about acquiring better stuff, to make the character competitive? I probably have a few coins and shards and some other stuff in the locker.

I'm a bit overwhelmed, but pretty stoked to be back. A lot has changed.

Finally got it! Many runs and strategies later we just took it slow and made sure all the adds were clear. About 45 seconds to spare WHEW!!

I bought like 10 blueprints and got all my specials up to 300 lol

Sleep is more than just for a week. It can be good for a month or even a year.
