I kind of alluded to it, the lack of burn in or image retention is an advantage that LED has over plasma, as well as, in my own opinion, the brighter display of LED serves me better in brightly lit rooms. I realize many enthusiasts have dedicated HT rooms with either a plasma or a projector where a bright room isn't a factor.

Trust me, if I wanted to game on my tv, I wouldn't have a vt60. That would just be a problem waiting to happen. As it stands I like gaming with a monitor though at a desk so was a moot point for me. |

I went from a Panasonic Plasma to an LG 55EA9800 OLED............to a mid range Sony LED HDTV and I don't regret doing so. The OLED could deliver stunning pictures and amazing black levels, but I found it's flaws outweighed the enjoyment factor. Motion blur was really bad and weak greyscale would result in DSE.
I was really spoiled with plasma technology and the OLED simply didn't feel like a huge step up. Plus, it was terrible for gaming, which I half expected but not to the level it actually performed. I would lose hours constantly fine tuning the settings and never being happy. It's the price you pay with early adoption, I'm well aware it was a first gen LG model and the tech is constantly being improved. I will happily reconsider OLED in a couple of years. I took a substantial loss when I sold it, but the Sony LED I now use provides a great picture, smooth motion and took limited effort to tweak out of the box. |

Having said that, I believe the future fate of OLED lies in the hands of plasma owners. |

Absolutely nobody, but you... Says OLED is "bad for gaming". (screen tearing was noticeable on early sets at 30hz. But...even 60hz cheapo LCD have screen tearing) (if you hadn't noticed...LG has incorporated native 120hz into several models, maybe all of them now) Last edited by schan1269; 09-30-2015 at 04:21 PM. |

I'm curious as to your 'absolutely nobody' statement, given several reviews for the EA9800 stated it would not be the preferred choice for gamers due to poor response times. OLED should of course knock this out of the park, but (on this set) it didn't. I simply found gaming a frustrating experience, something which has been echoed on the user forums. The 9800 relied an awful lot on Motion Interpolation to achieve what the advertising claimed it could do, but getting the balance right usually resulted in some sort of trade off, and I for one do not like MI technology.
