Definitely worth a blind buy, highly recommended!

I emailed Scream Factory to ask if they had any replacement slipcovers, since my Blu-ray of Night of the Demons arrived from Amazon without one. I've ordered directly from Scream Factory several times in past.

I'm not expecting them to send me one, but I figured that it won't hurt me to ask for it anyway.

Now I'm just waiting on my Sleepaway Camp/Lake Placid Amazon order to come in and I'm hoping they won't let me down.
That's interesting because I ordered from Deep Discount and DID NOT get a slip for The Burning but I DID get a slip for NOTD.

Perhaps they have different fulfillment locations?

After buying the Scream Factory Blu ray collectors Editions of Halloween's 2 and 3 and looking at the art work and looking and hearing how good the PQ and sound is they have a customer in me! I even have the Fog Blu ray collectors edition and I love it. I love what Scream Factory is doing with the horror classics. Top notch in my book. I cant wait to get my hands on the Blu ray release of The Car!

Hey guys, every October my friends and I each attempt watch 31 horror films. My list is already pretty extensive (currently sitting at 78 at last count, not including rewatching old favorites), but I've fallen behind on SFs most recent catalog additions and would like to throw a few of those on there. Any particular films I should make it a point to watch (particular emphasis on titles announced in 2015, but if there are any less heralded titles I'd definitely consider those)?

They emailed me back saying that they do not send slipcovers for any releases over three months old.

No worries. It was worth a shot, though. I'm not interested enough to pay money for a slip.

Now available as an MOD DVD-R from MGM:

I remember it being really boring, but fun cast (Lynn-Holly Johnson, Dennis Christopher, Martin Hewitt).

Should be this week, if it follows the pattern of previous preorders I've had with them.

Why is that copies don't always come with a slip? Do they do multiple print runs of the title and the non-first-run printings don't get slips?

Maybe I'm just being silly but I feel like an indie label like Shout could make a little bit of money selling replacement slipcovers. I feel like their target audience which is a rather hardcore fanbase cares about that kind of thing very much, way more than your average buyer. I know if I had the option to buy a Night of the Demons slip direct from Shout for $5 or less I'd do so.

Eh, but what do I know?

Here is the exact wording of their email...

I’m afraid we do not sell slipcovers, as it would be a violation of our licensing rights to do so.

Please note that slipcovers on our Scream Factory collector’s editions are only guaranteed for the first 3 months after street date. After that window, they are no longer manufactured, and are only available while supplies last.

I can understand and sympathize with their logic. The licensing rights would be an issue when it comes to selling the slipcovers individually without the actual movies. It's probably wise of them not to open the floodgates by making replacement slipcovers available after a certain time window.

How exactly would something like that violate their licensing rights? Not that I don't believe their answer, I'm genuinely curious.

Maybe the licensing is confined to the actual Blu-ray packages, in terms of the whole package and not just the sum of the parts. The original artwork on the Scream slipcovers may post an issue as well when it comes to the licensing.

I dunno.

Shout! Factory doesn't have general merchandising rights to the films or their characters' likenesses and slipcovers are not intended to be merchandise or to have any monetary value unto themselves.

Yup, same thing with the posters and coasters they give away with a purchase. They can't sell them.

Yeah, I picked that up; but it's no special edition blu-ray. It also wouldn't be the first time Scream released a blu after MGM made an MOD of a title (New Years Evil).

The movie's not boring at all, it's fun and pretty much wall to wall wild shit.

Talk about under the radar. Just ordered a copy. Haven't purchased one of these MOD titles in a while but I figured I should get it as a "test run" - if the movie sucks then I won't have to worry about Scream or someone else dragging their feet to license it for Blu-ray. If it's good then I'll have a decent copy of it on DVD to enjoy now. Something tells me this won't hit BD any time soon so, either way I win.

So that's why the slipcover illustrations never look like the actual characters!
