Can anyone who has the disc on hand check the duration of the A Diamond in the Rough: The Making of Aladdin? The review here lists it as 70 minutes long, but the original DVD version was 109 minutes long. Hoping that its a mistake and it hasn't been truncated....

It also looks like theres a bit more special features and extras on the US version. Don't forget that the US version also comes with a digital copy(which you can sell if thats not your thing). I am debating if I should triple dip and buy the US version mainly to get the digital copy, and even though Im no stickler for audio, for me it would be good to have the best possible version of the movie. The review says that theres a 9 minute speacial feature with Genie Outtakes that ends with a tribute to Robin Williams, which I would like to have and watch and not sure if that special feature will get ported over to digital. Plus the regular slip cover looks nice too bad it probably wont fit on my steelbook. I would like to see how the Best Buy lecticular slip cover looks in person. |

Yeah, it's full of it. Maybe resulting from some error.

So it seems all blu-ray versions worldwide will only contain about 90% of the vertical presentation...frustrating.
Now I'm just waiting to find out if the Target "digi-book" is a real one this time, or a separate book in the slip case. |

Once again, there is some very weird artifacts on the picture. This is another non perfect CAPS transfer after Rescuers and Tarzan. I hoped the Diamond release would rectify the problems.

Now that every Rennisance Era classic has been released and reviewed in the US, I decided to rank them based on the PQ, AQ and BFQ.
It's a close race. 4. The Little Mermaid Video: 4.5 Audio: 4.5 Bonus Features: 4 3. Aladdin (It's unfair that this one just missed both Imax AND 3D, is it not?) Video: 4.5 Audio: 5 Bonus Features: 4 2. The Lion King Video: 5 Audio: 5 Bonus Features: 4 1. Beauty and the Beast Video: 5 Audio: 5 Bonus Features: 4.5 So yeah. Alas, poor Aladdin, nudged out of new things Disney tries by this much. ![]() They didn't even put the Genie-Oke OR Diamond Edition Preview videos on there! (I don't like sounding like Iago, but JEEZ! Is it quality control's day off?) Last edited by Justadoo444; 10-04-2015 at 04:37 PM. |

I'm curious about the 1:85:1 aspect ratio too. The CAPS films were all animated at 1:66:1 and thus far for Diamond Editions, they've been sticking with a 1:78:1 aspect ratio (Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, even The Little Mermaid went with at 1:78:1). Not sure what prompted the cropping. I guess I'm actually more annoyed with Disney trying to erase all existence of the blue castle logo and the PIXAR castle.

1:85:1 is the Original Theatrical Aspect Ratio. Not that hard to comprehend or is it that hard to wrap our minds around. The artifacts are clearly minor and source related and not conspiracy based. If they had tampered with it to fix it there would be claims of "revisionism" and overly restoring it. There would be complaining either way!

Yep, OAR is 1.85. 1.66 is just what the final animation was rendered by CAPS and like other full-frame presentations was not seen in theaters. The CAV LD cover was absolutely gorgeous. Still have mine. ![]() ![]() |

Also, I DO have TLK, and the second screen (PC/Mac) doesn't work, even you remove the S from the HTTPS of the link (It elicits an error otherwise). It needs to be fixed. |

As in, if you go to the computer edition, you get an error because the link is HTTPS instead of HTTP. When you actually get to it, it doesn't sync, no matter what you do. (Bd-Live is in need of fixing; I cannot get to the Virtual Vault either.)
