To paraphrase one of my fave films, such folks in the industry are "so concerned with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should".
Thankfully, there's still some respectful people though, whose work I continue to admire.

I would agree with this post along with the theory of "Hollywood Confidence." What Hollywood thinks of as a "Sure Thing," due to director, screenwriter, or actors involved, isn't so much these days anymore. Why did Disney's
Pan fell flat or failed so badly this weekend? Why has Disney been credited with several "flops" within the last 3-4 years? When were speaking of actors/actresses, "Name recognition" surrounding a Hollywood film doesn't guarantee future success or partnership these days. Film making is truly all about screenwriting an "Original" or "Adapted" story into a well developed film, to be shown on the silver screen. Maybe Hollywood studios should look into having "focus groups" that critique and analyses every possible film/script that they can get their hands on; Just because Johnny Depp or Hugh Jackman are involved within a production of a film doesn't necessarily guarantee success or future profit; I may just lead someone into writing a similar story that gains more attention and becomes more successful. How about we write a story similar to that of
Interstellar and
Gravity and call it
The Martian
