Default Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill! (1965)

Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! Blu-ray

Surprised this hasn't been talked about more often about this release.

"Russ Meyer’s iconic 1966 film, Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill! has been digitally restored by the Russ Meyer Trust and is being offered in high definition on Blu-ray disc for the first time ever. Available October 19, 2015"

One thread is enough.

Interesting and surprising news. I see blu-ray is not currently available for pre-order on their site. Very curious about the PQ.

My bad, I didn't mean to. I'm trying to delete the other one but I can't select the delete button.

There's no delete button. No biggie. Mods will delete the other one.

Unbelievable! I just posted how this needed a Blu-ray release a few weeks ago and was this close to picking up the old Arrow DVD. This is great news!

I love this film, but this doesn't exactly seem promising coming from their little in-house company.

And Christ, those "sale prices" for simple DVDs are outrageous.

^^ Par for the course with RM Films, I'm afraid.

I wonder if Arrow's recent announcement had anything to do with the timing of this?
I just hope FFKK is mastered properly and not done on the cheap.

I don't want to check out the RM site at work, does it say what the AR is? I saw this in a theater when it was revived in 1995, and I'm pretty sure it was matted to at least 1.66:1, but I can't remember for sure. One of my lifetime regrets is not going to see the film one day earlier, when Russ Meyer himself attended the screening at the long-gone Garden Hills Cinema in Atlanta and answered questions afterwards. A few years later there were reports that he was ill with dementia and he died in 2004.

This is the only RM film that I really like (maybe BtVotD also); hoping it will be a good release.

They are pricey but Russ Meyer's films have always been distributed in the US by RM Films. This was his own personal distribution company. he was notorious for not wanting anyone outside his company to touch the films. The quality was respectable with the DVD's and I remember they were dedicated to transferring things properly without any obvious digital tinkering. They even gave specs about the amount of light used for the telecine transfers back in the day so I would expect a pretty accurate representation of the source that was used. I'm very excited to pick this up. I hope they do his others like Vixen, SuperVixens, Up and so on.

This is interesting news. I had abandoned hope that The Russ Meyer Trust would ever invest in upgrading any of Meyer's movies to high definition.

I'm reserving my excitement, however, and remain skeptical about this release. The Russ Meyer Trust has been very good at disappointing Russ Meyer fans since the auteur died in 2004. Their subpar, bare-bones DVD offerings are expensive. "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" deserves a deluxe, "Criterion Collection" type release of the highest technical quality with plenty of extras and supplements. I'm not confident that this is what we will get from the Russ Meyer Trust. To be blunt, I'm thinking of all the ways they might have screwed this up. Aspect ratio? Quality of high definition upgrade? Extras? Price? Availability?

Let's hope this release is worthy and the start of a broader upgrade of Meyer's unique film catalogue.

I shook Mr Meyer's hand after that screening but could not recall the theater. So, thanks!

I shudder at the price they are going to charge for this. $39.95 plus shipping for a DVD when it's not on sale. I could see this with a $49.95 price tag or even $59.95

Finally the trust has come to their senses, insane how long this took, can't wait for more news on this release, one of Russ Meyer's best movies, hope it will be a high quality release. I hope it's not just in their store though and released for overseas too, that's the one part I'm worried about the availability.

With this company I'd definitely wait for reviews. Promising news anyway.

Mudhoney is my favorite of his.

I wish my late, lamented friend Tura Satana was still around to hype up this release. She was a real wonder, a great person and sexy just by breathing. I miss her, but am so glad this is finally coming out in HD. To quote the ad campaign of the Jane Russell 3-D movie from the 50's, "It'll knock BOTH your eyes out!"

Never seen this movie, always meant to. Guess now's the time—granted, of course, it doesn't look like hot garbage.

Ya, the RM Films DVD releases were pretty pricey, so this Blu will probably be even moreso, but hopefully worth it.

RM Films released pretty much Meyer's entire library on DVD, even the super obscure early ones, but they never released Black Snake. I know the rumor was that Anouska Hempel acquired the rights to Black Snake and Tiffany Jones so no one could see her naked anymore, but then Arrow UK put Black Snake out on DVD so who knows if that was ever true or not.

RM Films' last compilation DVD of early films stated that it was the last of his films in their library that they had left to release, and an e-mail I sent to them a couple of years ago inquiring about Black Snake went unanswered. It's not a typical Meyer's film, but I love it, and it's got David Warbeck!
