In real life, Spartacus' generals refused to leave Italy because all they wanted to do was kill and plunder Romans -- and that's why Spartacus died in battle. He actually wasn't crucified.

My understanding of the evidence is that we'll never know for sure.

I wasn't trying to be an ass if that's how it came across. Every time I see lots of questions about why this and why that I think of everything wrong with videos. I think it all comes down to recognition. Those characters survived because the audience knew them. Can't have all new characters come in with 30 mins left. The emotional impact is gone.

Thanks, but nah. Very nice of you, but I don't need one that bad. If I find one, I find one. If I don't, no big deal. Heck, just finding these in a B&M store (slip cover or not) seems to be a challenge.

Watched this tonight, and I know this is so cliche`, but it was like seeing this for the 1st time. Big fan and I've watched Spartacus countless times over the yrs. in various home video formats, but my jaw hit the floor when this baby started playing. Thank you Universal, Robert Harris, and everyone involved for giving this great movie the care it deserved.

It always seemed odd to me, before 1991, where he had gone to.
Of course logically he must have died, but I wondered why they didn't show it.
Now we see that they, very clearly, made sure the audience knew of his fate.

Actually, I think the shot of him getting stabbed was there, but it cut away quickly before he falls over.

Among the movies of the past decade or so, most are terrible! I look at those racks of discs at Best Buy or wherever and I can't help but think, "Who buys most of this crap?" I know it's not me, as I rarely buy a movie that's not more than thirty or forty years old.

I arrange my disks on a big shelf, chronologically by release date. For any given recent year, there's about 2-3 movies.

It's all about the classic stuff for me.
