I have been watching them on eBay and they're going for, on average, $215.27 (shipping included). I will more-than-likely buy from them, unless Amazon has them for $100 a piece again! Come on, Amazon!
I just picked a pair up as my surrounds for the asking price of $290.00 - lol - Amazon Prime shipping helps, too! (Should be here tomorrow) But I just dont risk the...risks. lol. So I bought them straight from Amazon. The most I did was buy my Marantz 7002 factory refurbished - from an authorized dealer with the warranty and all. Just got it in today!

It was the R50s to $60.....

Actually if you think about it, it was like $40 each just to ship one to me and for $88, they are shipped. So now would be the best time to get it. It's in cherry too!

That is 88 dollars a piece, used though right. The cheapest I have seen them new is 100 dollars a piece.

That's for a pair! Sorry, I should have been clear.

Buying only one is a good idea, I might do that. Although, having one sit there and not being used (until the next one arrived) would practically kill me!

well, amazon wherehouse deals or what ever lists them as open box, so they probably are just returns that have only been used for under 30 days. and if im not mistaken they still carry the full manufactorer warranty so I say go for it.

I'm thinking about picking up a pair of monitor 50s myself, but i don't have room for the monitor series center channel. I have a polk rm "202" i think it's the same as the "201" currently, not sure how these would match up.

I know I was shocked as to how big the cs1 really was, I just ordered it and when it came in, wow. I had to put two mdf boards that I cut and painted black under it to raise it up above the tv.

Well i did some research and it seems like the best choice for me was to get the CS1 center channel. I'm looking to raise my tv a bit now so the center channel doesn't cover it . So i have two monitor 50s and a cs1 on the way .

Think 6 months of research, an entire summer of hard work to earn the money, countless time spent in audio stores demoing 50 bazillion different speaker offerings, online reading, etc - it all finally paid off. I'll be making my own thread about its assembly some other day...still got coursework to finish.

Please, do an entire build thread.

Well, after that much research/personal experience, do you believe the Polk Monitor 50 speakers are the way I should go?

I was originally going to use them as fronts (but thanks to an unexpected financial windfall due to a user error in UM's financial aid department) - I was able to move them to the rears.

They are the best entry-level floorstanders on the market. Sure they don't hit low notes, but that's what subwoofers are for! They are as detailed as it gets for $150 a pop. You really can't go wrong with them, Bosch, I've listened to them at least 10 times. A winner by Polk.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited to get me a pair. I saw them at Fry's today and they are a perfect size for my room. I also saw the Polk CS1... which looks like a godless killing machine!

The fun is in the set-up! Going to keep the Polk RM subwoofer for the time being?

I have to agree I did not demo alot of stuff but I am totally happy with these as my fronts. Also since these are being phased out for the new tsi line you should be able to find good deals.Check out your nearest Best Buy or Circuit City and Fry's I got mine at 99 for the pair they were display models which as I see it where just broken in for me I am going tomorrow to pick up the m70's they have for 129 each I cannot wait!!
