I have been studiously avoiding as much news as possible so as not to hear any spoilers - I've done a good job.
I'm not overly fond of the song, but apparently the title sequence really adds something and it fits perfectly

I certainly hope you are right as that would be ideal, I would much prefer that to be the case. However, tonight I purchased the soundtrack to Spectre along with the CD Single of the theme, I'm a completist so had to do it, but noticed that there is an instrumental on it. Hopefully repeated listens may lessen my dislike over time.

I've read enough from a couple of threads from folks who saw the film over in London that I'm avoid this damn film like the plague.

[Show spoiler]The reveal, described in full in a thread I read, sounds absolutely horrendous.

Noooo, Reading a fan's best guess is one thing but why would you read a detailed synopsis before you see the movie??? Hopefully it's handled well, reviews so far have me optimistic. Can't wait to see this in a couple weeks

Regarding the pre-title sequence in Mexico City which, according to all the comments I've been reading, is winning praise because it's a prolonged action scene filmed in one continuous shot without any cuts. Has anyone seen Kathryn Bigelow's Strange Days (1995)? That also contains a prolonged action scene in one continuous shot without any cuts which, like Spectre, begins on a crowded street, follows the protagonist into a building and up the stairs, then over a roof etc etc.

[Show spoiler]Waltz's Blofeld isn't Bond brother or second cousin or anything, right? He's just Blofeld and that's the big surprise?

"Disappointing bad guy"

[Show spoiler]"Monica Bellucci cameo"

I called both a long time ago and the second is unbelievably irritating. I knew they would waste her.

edit: Hollywood Reporter says the final act/hour is a letdown (which fits with the leaked script) and we have a
[Show spoiler]Star Trek: Into Darkness
situation.

[Show spoiler]Seriously, did you guys really not expect Waltz to be Blofeld? The movie is called Spectre, for heavens sake.

[Show spoiler]Do you want to know the reveal because I have a detailed description of how it goes down? It's terrible. Period.

Why do you even use an article from WhatCulture? Most of the things they pump out suck balls.

So it seems like the movie is at least better than QoS but no where near as good as Skyfall. I guess that is really all I can ask for given that there was no way they were going to live up to Skyfall, but at least they went for better quality. Maybe Bond films really do need 4 years between them to be the best they can be?

Not sure that more time is really the solution, looks like it just means more writers get involved and end up trying to cram a bunch of story ideas into a single coherent narrative. I don't know how Spectre will turn out (obviously) but reportedly Logan's script needed work so the producers called Purvis/Wade back (who had initially retired from Bond with Skyfall) to punch it up, and Butterworth was involved to some extent as well. Not to mention that Broccoli, Wilson, and Craig help shape the story or at least point out what they like and don't like. Lots of cooks in the kitchen. Hopefully all for the best.

I don't know why people talk about Skyfall like it's the peak of the franchise when it's not even the best of the Daniel Craig ones.
