This movie better happen! I hope Leo can get in on the action in this one too! Anyway I'm always stoked for whatever Scorsese is directing. His movies are always fantastic! He's a top 3 all-time favourite director for me.
Paramount is developing a number of films for Scorsese to direct, including a Leonard Bernstein biopic from a script by Spotlight writer Josh Singer. It's the first time the studio has confirmed the project, which will explore the life of the legendary composer and conductor. --- Scorsese also will direct Leonardo DiCaprio in the film adaptation The Devil in the White City, and Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Al Pacino in "The Irishman".
Scorsese will continue to be based out of his New York offices.
Back in September we got wind of a very, very cool rumor: that Joe Pesci and Al Pacino would be joining the cast of Martin Scorsese's The Irishman with Robert De Niro. Pesci and De Niro are obviously long time friends and co-stars, particularly in films directed by Scorsese, but Pacino has never been worked with the Goodfellas director. That all changes very soon.
As was reported on Monday, The Irishman will be Scorsese's next film, and now De Niro has confirmed to MTV that both Pesci and Pacino will be coming along for the ride. Of the three, only De Niro has worked with Pacino previously, having appeared with him in both Michael Mann's Heat and Jon Avnet's Righteous Kill. Based on the book I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt, the movie will tell the story of Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran, a union official who killed people under Jimmy Hoffa. Currently working on Hugo Cabret, Scorsese says that the movie could start production sometime next year.
While Pesci seems content just to come out of retirement whenever he feels like doing a project, both De Niro and Pacino are in desperate need of a real winner, and I can't imagine a better person for them to work with than Scorsese. With any luck, the director will be able to tap into his real gangster roots like he did with The Departed and make a brilliant film. All of the pieces are there, now he just has to make it happen.

Saw Pacino at a Q&A in Hollywood tonight. When asked if he'd ever get a chance to work with Scorsese, he mentioned this project and said it was very exciting. Brett Ratner, who was interviewing Pacino, also said he wanted to help in producing. First I heard of this but it sounds incredible and let's hope it happens.

Scorsese said, “If you’re doing well, you can do another film if 1) you agree with the subject matter and 2) if it’s a film that others want. yay, finally a Scorsese film without DiCaprio!
Nice to see old friends will be working together again, the last time was Casino in 1995, only took 20 years.
DeNiro and Scorsese were voice talent in Shark Tale but that don't really count in my book.
