That's one nice and clean setup! Congrats. I have a pair of monitor 50s coming on Monday, can't wait. I'll be moving them to the back someday maybe when i get something nicer for the fronts, it's just my bedroom setup for now.

Thanks to all the compliments, chaps! Here are the Final 99% shots...(since the way I see it, you are never 100% complete, chances are I'll be making finishing touches to this over the course of the week...)

What a great day it was! Now to hit the sack...

i dont know how i feel about those surrounds setup that way.

do you get a very accurate sound stage with them pointed almost directly at each other right behind a couch?

everything else looks snazy. I was going to say earlier when i saw the sound panels, not to use the spray adhesive stuff to attach them to the wall. i used to own/operate a small music venue and i had purchased like 5 boxes full of those auralex foam panels and put them all up the same way. if you ever try and take those puppies off your wall, expect a decent sized mess on your hands. it rips a decent chunk of the foam off the back and leaves it securely attached to your wall. leaving you with chunks of foam that is one b*tch to scrape off cleanly. there's a few other ways to attach foam panels to your wall without leaving a huge mess if you ever were to change your mind.

let me know if you plan on putting more panels up, and i can find some links for you or something.

but either way, nice setup! impressive to say the least!

I felt the same, you would probably benefit more pointing at the listening position or facing your fronts....

Otherwise, beautiful!!!

It will take you some time to get it all dialed in, let us know what you think after that.

Constructive criticism:

Do you really need that coffee table between the sofa and tv? You obviously care about sound quality, you have room treatments and B&W speakers, the table in the middle will bounce sound off your center channel. And for purely cosmetic reasons, you will open up the room with the table gone. It looks a bit cramped the way it is. The room would look larger and more spacious without it, not to mention better. Just my opinion of course.

I am in love!

Two questions:
  1. Do those little sound-proof squares make a real difference?
  2. After you connected and placed each component, what was the first sound through the speakers?

BTW, I think btf1980 has a good point.

I feel the same way. I just...the point is, back when I bought it I thought I would need it, now I can't justify its expense without keeping it - I have nowhere else in the house to put it... But I know where you're coming from, it's driving me crazy, I really don't know how to deal with it. I still need less reflectivity in the room though, going to have to get some carpets and decide where to place more panels without it looking too tacky yet still serve a purpose.

To BoschRock:

No idea yet. Still have a few more to place before I can be sure if it makes a difference. And the first sound was the Marantz' test pulse shot through it for the Audyssey set up.

To Mr. Peeps:

The way Dolby itself places the surrounds is like this:

...and while I don't follow that exactly (I place them a little more to the back)...what I am doing is aiming the speakers right at my listening position - I've been toying with them in many places back with my HTiB setup, and I've found that placing the sound there works quite well. I'll keep messing with it though, that's my chore today...tweaking.
