Default No Bd-live???

I've had the Sony bdp-s300 blu-ray player for quite some time now. I love it but one thing I have a question about. Why is it not have bd-live? I know most players don't have it but I want to know, How do you get bd-live if you have a player like mine? I'm so worried that my player is out of date or it's just I got a bad player. Please help.

Sony BDP-S300 has no ethernet connection, so it is not capable of getting BD-Live (or true PiP for that matter). It is one of the earlier players release and is a 1.0 player.

You need a Profile 2.0 player for BD-Live compatibility.

what animeonblu said and also, BD-live isn't really that great to start off with. I have tried to download things from there and it ends up freezing my ps3 or taking insanely long to load onto it.

+1, PIP is a fantastic feature. Forgetting Sarah Marshall includes two PiP tracks and both are quite good. It's Picture-in-Picture. So you can see behind the scenes, commentary, interviews, storyboards, etc while viewing the film.

Your machine will always play Blu-ray movies. It will never become obsolete. BD Live requires Internet connection so that studios can download junk. It is a marketing gimmick. I have PS3 and I couldn't care less for it. I love movies and the only thing I care about is watching them on my BD player. I do not want to waste my time with B.S. from studios. Millions of DVD players and VCR's do not have Internet connection, but people continue to watch movies and record shows on them. Just enjoy your movies and don't worry so much.

Not such a gimmick, Forgetting Sarah Marshall will include extras not on the disc via BD-Live.

I AM NOT NEW TO BLU-RAY. I STARTED ALONG TIME AGO. I'm just new to this forum and don't know what the PIP means because if you said Picture in Picture that I would have known but not like PIP. Don't blame me that I'm new.

Why should I care for the extras and why didn't the studio include the extras on the disc? There are some movies that have more material on their DVD release or Laser Disc release than the BD version. My only conclusion is that it is a marketing ploy so that consumers either buy a new player or buy a future version of the movie with two or three discs at outrageous prices.

Nobody has the right to make fun of you. There are no stupid questions. There are only stupid answers. In the future, if you don't understand something, check the threads in the forum with sticky on them. Most of your questions are answered there. As far as abreviations and acronyms are concerned, here is a free dictionary. http://www.acronymfinder.com/

The first player I bought was a Sony BDP-S300 and it wasn't until I bought Batman Begins that I realized how much of a hassel it would be without the internet connection. It wouldn't play the disc until I uploaded the new firmware off the website.

Unfortunately, the whole process of uploading the firmware was configured for a typical PC. All I had was a mac. I had to buy a CD, take it to a cybercafe, download the firmware from the website and burn it onto the disc before returning the disc home and putting it in my blu-ray player. After loading the new firmware (I believe it was BD 1.1 by that point) it was finally able to play Batman Begins.

You can, regardless of your resources, update the firmware for the BDP-S300, it just takes a lot longer without a direct connection to the internet.

Why can't the impliment PIP so other then profile 1.1 can use this. ?

Must say even today I got a bdp-500 and I love this and it is now always a year since I did buy this and I have now plans to buy a new player just to see PIP features on a film.

So why can't this be included on older players like 1.0 ?
