Thanks Paul! This looks like a fun action fantasy animated movie. And in 3D? Even better. How did you find out it was 3D? Surprised they didn't highlight it on the front cover.

The heads-up came from dazed2012's October 15, 2015 post #4393 in "The last 3D Blu-ray you Bought or Watched" thread.

Be aware it is a post-conversion and not
rendered in stereoscopic 3D. There is
some good distance between objects in the
stereo field throughout the movie. However, the
conversion does have it's share of problems.
When it comes to design and style, it
reminded me of Tekken: Blood Vengence.

I know Tekken is NOT a conversion. I was simply
referring to design, style of animation, things like
that.
Dragon Nest is a post-conversion, NOT Tekken.
Guess I need to spell it out for you...

Dragon Nest probably had to be converted because the animation company couldn't afford to render in native stereo. I'm excited for China's 3D filmmaking industry to start taking off, especially their animation houses. Not only is there a possibility of some intriguing 3D CGI films, but maybe Tsui Hark's movies can finally get some better VFX.

Toei Animation really needs to hire a stereographer. All of their 3D so far has been sub-standard, which is a shame because their animation is beautiful.

Thanks Br3ttD. I'll keep it in mind and hope to watch this soon. Would you say medium range 3D layering for the most part? Hopefully. Strong 3D is ideal, though for a lower budget conversion, medium is acceptable.

Had they rendered it in 3D, that would've cost them twice the time to render it out, so I can understand a conversion if their budget was low. Thanks for the info.

Tekken's 3D was definitely a disappointment as it offered mild 3D for what could've been amazing considering the style and look of the film, despite the slowly paced story.

Mild 3D conversion in Dragon's Nest, with some really good medium 3D layering every now and then. Pop outs, almost none. Movie kept my attention thankfully. I like the style of the characters and elves. The dragon at the end, pretty cool. 90 minutes plus bonuses. Be sure to sit directly at eye level or the 3D looks really weird with this one. Eye level it looks better.
The 3D gets a little better as it goes on.

3D estimate:
Mild 3D: 80%
Medium range 3D: 18%
Strong 3D: 1%
Pop Outs: 1%
