I thought the humor worked well in Ant-Man. It was a comedy anyway, so not much of it felt forced, like Marvel tends to do with a lot of their other films.

The science was a bit questionable, but it is science fiction after all, so I can look past that.
Agreed. Expectations have a lot to do with enjoyment also.
I enjoyed Ant Man and expected the humor in it, which is absolutely necessary for a live action movie about a super hero shrinking down to the size of an ant and fighting bad guys; the concept in itself is silly, so why not have fun with it. It adds to the enjoyment of the movie and the fact it doesn't take itself too seriously, much like Guardians of the Galaxy didn't. Good action, medium to strong 3D mix.

I managed to order the steel book in the end, it should arrive tomorrow.

I'm really looking forward to watching this again.
I'll have to check it out, but not till it's on video in the US December 8th.

Agree. The 19.99 price is really nice compared to Amazon's way overpriced 29.99 for the base version.

I must maintain though that the 3D is AMAZING, absolutely gorgeous throughout and those shrinking scenes are jaw on the floor type stuff. That aside though it's really poor IMO. Douglas is good but it feels like he's on autopilot, Rudd is fine and so is Lily but Michael Pena's role is so overdone and he's just not that funny. I really hated the note the movie ended on with him.

I can't call Avengers Age of Ultron a great movie by a long shot, however i've enjoyed watching that several times since getting the 3D blu. Ant-Man has much better 3D but those shrinking scenes aside, mostly the rest of it falls flat. It just feels like Marvel going through the motions.
Cool to see you have it available in your area already. Sorry to hear you didn't care for the humor or movie, though glad to hear you liked the 3D.

Is the Target exclusive only on 3d? I thought so for JW and that entire release day it was and then the next day they brought out the 2d exclusives lol

Yeah the 3D is really something in this, deserves to be up there with the best 3D presentations of the year. Also it has the advantage of being full screen which gives it that extra wow factor.

I'd agree that this is up there with the best 3D releases of the year, but that's more of a reflection on the sorry state of live action 3D this year.

As pretty as Ant Man looks overall though, the conversion is really weak compared to Terminator Genisys (the best conversion of the year for me) - even San Andreas's conversion had more impact.

Best Buy Ridiculous Price

Can someone please explain to me how the BB steelbook is $27.99 when past Marvel SBs have been $19.99? I know it's a few bucks difference, but the idea of me paying that much for it does not sit well.

Inflation. The smaller the character gets, the more the price for his blu-ray increases.

A couple of weeks back it was $24.99. We've become too comfortable with the $19.99 price of previous steelbooks, we now feel entitled to low prices no matter how many years pass. I'd like to pay $19.99 for my copy as well, but it is what it is. We must take it or leave it. Companies could choose to not make steelbooks, afterall, so we should be thankful that we have options.

Has anybody received a shipping confirmation from any online retailer regarding AntMan? Best Buy charged me for my copies last week but my order still says, "Order Received." Usually Best Buy charges me once the order ships.

Does anyone else have a preorder up on the steelbook from Best Buy? Has anyone's shipped? Mine still says order received. I would have expected the process to move further along at this point for a 12/8 release.

Same here, except Best Buy hasn't charged me yet. I used Visa Checkout to pay for it, but it doesn't look like Best Buy is featured on the Visa Checkout page anymore, which concerns me.

The Best Buy ad I received this morning indicates that the Ant-man steelbook will be $27.99. Glad I picked it up for $24.99 a few weeks back (assuming it ships).

Enjoy the extras.

I'll take the solid 3D from Ant Man first, the extras second, since it's the movie I'll be watching most of the time.
