Looks like there are now 12 locations in the US (with 1 in Canada, 1 in the UK and 1 in Australia) showing 70mm prints.

Can't believe the Toronto screen which showed Interstellar in 15/70 is doing 3D instead of 70mm, while freaking Saskatchewan has the only Canadian 70mm print screening!!

To be honest, I wish you could record your reaction to seeing that Title Screen for the first time. I was very young when I saw Empire on the big screen for the first time in the 80's.

I live in a location that had the first IMAX 70mm in Europe and they're showing it, but the fact it's not listed either means they completely did away with the 70mm and went digital which would suck ass.

Can't believe they would do that. They are showing it in 3D and expect you to bring your own glasses.

If I remember weren't the original Stormtroopers going to have laser-swords? I'm not sure if Ralph McQuarrie's artwork had them or not ...
The action figure is called "riot control stormtrooper" so I'd say... Yeah. Other purpose. Lol

You have a much better chance of getting killed in a car wreck on the way to the theater than being shot while in the theater.

Can't believe they would do that. They are showing it in 3D and expect you to bring your own glasses.
Although they've claimed this for Interstellar as well, SW is most likely the last 70mm IMAX film. If they expect you to bring your own 3D glasses (how can they do that?), they must be using RealD 3D and not the active system that IMAX 70mm used.

We're getting screwed in NYC as well. The Loews Lincoln Square, supposedly one of the flagship original IMAX theatres outside a museum, is not getting a 70mm print, even though they showed Interstellar in 70mm. I think they must have pulled out the 70mm projector. But they don't have the new Laser projectors either, so it's LIEMAX but on a much larger screen. I saw Gravity there in 3D and it was passable, but dim. Instead, I'm going to see it at an AMC Prime Dolby Vision theatre in 2D.

I can still remember the days when NYC was first to get any new projection and sound technology (except perhaps for THX, which was far stronger on the West Coast).

But at least we're getting a 70mm Ultra-Pan print of "The Hateful Eight", which I assume is going to play on the Lincoln Square's largest non-IMAX screen in the screen they call "The Loews". Two other theatres are getting 70mm of the H8 as well, but probably not on their largest screens because of Star Wars.

I can't believe a week from now I'll be seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Who would think that would even be possible? It's a surreal feeling knowing the last time I saw a Star Wars film in theaters was ten years ago.

I remember when the news first broke. I remember it quite well as I nearly choked on whatever it was I was drinking at the time! I honestly thought that we'd never see another SW movie.

The next seven days, every one of them is going to be like Christmas Eve when you're five!
