I never knew that Aaron was such a huge SW fan.

This sums up how I feel going into this movie. Though it's not just the prequels, but that for the past decade we've been bombarded with reboots, sequels to movies over 10 (sometimes 20) years old, and remakes. Movies now seem to be all about nostalgia and exploiting all of our childhood favorites. It's tiring.

I agree thats why we all want to see TFA

I'll see how I feel about the saturation after 2016. Rogue One has my attention just as much as TFA.

This, plus from the trailers this LOOKS like Star Wars in ways the prequels did not. It doesn't resemble that sterile, lifeless CGI world of I-III at all. By all indications, we're going to get what we should have gotten in 1999. A real SW movie. I hope I'm right.

Yeah, that is absolutely not true. You can see (via the internet archive) what StarWars.com looked like before the prequels were announce. Like most sites in 1996-1998, there were only a few pages. A Death Star game, some facts about the planets, etc. Nothing about the prequels or 7-9. Nothing at all.

https://web.archive.org/web/19980213...rwars.com/home

That link will take you to the first change after Episode 1 was announced. You can click the left arrow at the top to go backwards in time and you'll see there was nothing there at any point about 7-9.

Correction: it is the first new Star Wars movie released to theaters in SEVEN years - and it has actually only been 3 years since the 3-D re-release of Episode I.

Yes, I get that the haters won't let go of their hatred even a decade after the last of the prequels, it is perfectly typical behavior for people who latch on to their negative emotions.... Anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering.

Seriously, though, the only real raison d'etre for the new movies is just that Disney wants to milk as much money from fans and moviegoers as they possibly can. So go ahead and love the new SW - Disney shareholders will be eternally grateful and laughing all the way to the bank.

I think being a SW movie is more than just effects. But with the PT people couldn't look past CGI the way they could puppets and bad greenscreens I guess

I think at the time, we quickly forgot about ep 7-9 almost as soon as Jedi was released.

Yes, the hypocrisy is astonishing.

Plus, most of the same fans who bash CGI in the PT were also absolutely extatic about all the CGI in LOTR and The Hobbit

I think this movie will suck if the rumors about
[Show spoiler] Luke turning to the dark side and killing Han
are true. Unless it's done very tastefully, I won't like it.

I do think the movie will be well done however
