You should know what I mean,
[Show spoiler]we've all known about this angle for many many years, its not even any kind of secret.
So the fact they're done it straight away in the first movie is no surprise at all and, I think, disappointing.

It will break records the same way Jurassic World did. No wonder Colin Trevorrow now on board for IX. But I have faith in Rian Johnson, I'm glad we're done with VII, bring on VIII.

2.5/5 stars, rounded to 3/5 stars for the poll.
Yep, that's what I've read here and there, remake of ANH. Gotta wait till the hype dies down for proper reviews.

Aaaand this is why I'm glad I've seen it already, the spoilers are going to be out of control from here out. Good luck to those of you who are wanting to avoid them, because it's going to be tough. Hopefully no one pulls a "Snape kills Dumbledore" drive-by like for Harry Potter and somehow spoils this irl. It's amazing that some people are such douches they'd ruin such an event for fans, I guess they'll feed off the anger/outrage they'll get in response to it.

The ANH parallels definitely are plentiful in this though, so if you think about it then the spoiler that's being discussed makes sense, even if people don't like it. And while the parallels didn't bother me, I can see how they might make it feel a bit stale to some people.

As a theater employee, the movie would have been ruined for me long before I could have seen it. So I am thankful for the chance to get them from a trusted and friendly source.

Yep it's going to be hard for me to make it until Saturday without reading/hearing any spoilers. I'm definitely staying out of this thread now, maybe I should just stay off the internet completely!

For those interested, James Berardinelli gave The Force Awakens 3 stars out of 4. I refuse to read his review beyond the first couple paragraphs though since I'm trying to remain spoiler-free. But for frame of reference, here's how he rated the other Star Wars films:

Star Wars - 4 Stars
The Empire Strikes Back - 4 Stars
Return of the Jedi - 2 Stars(3 Stars in his original review)
The Phantom Menace - 2 1/2 Stars(3 1/2 Stars in his original review)
Attack of the Clones - 3 Stars(3 1/2 Stars in his original review)
Revenge of the Sith - 4 Stars(3 1/2 Stars in his original review)

So based on his current view of the saga, The Force Awakens is middle of the road, about on par with AOTC and inferior to ROTS.

so what you are saying, we might have another Avatar. We're the visuals were stunning and the 3D was beautiful, but the lack of plot was the problem.

I don't know if you guys read the Devin Faraci review, who posted the first "meh" tweet at the premiere, but his review is very positive. He absolutely loves the new characters (which for me is the most important part of the movie, because remember they will bear the future of Star Wars, whether in movies or books)

When it comes to character The Force Awakens delivers on a massive level. Every single major new character is an instant classic, and every single one of them is a character I want to follow through many films, just as we followed Luke and Han and Leia.

Lets see some things i remember...

[Show spoiler]Solo eventually spots Kylo Ren and tries to convince his son to turn away from the dark side. He walks over a bridge inside the death star, unarmed to try and talk him out of the dark side, by saying Ren is just a mere puppet who will be eliminated once the master gets what he wants. Ren turns over his light saber to Solo, but then activates the lightsaber and kills Han Solo, who falls from the bridge.

The lack of a weak story = a strong story?

I submitted to early I think it was the plot that was the problem with avatar that brought it down. But the visuals were really good
