After seeing this, Lucas deserves a lot of apologies from A LOT of people. There is no way people can shred the prequels to pieces and not do the same to this movie because it is a colossal mess.
I will never forgive Lucas for not releasing properly restored, unmolested versions of the OT. I don't care about the prequels, and reading about E7's plot made me lose interest very quickly.

I'm quickly becoming that bitter, old man who's out of touch with the modern times, and who yells at kids to get off his lawn. I'm only 30.

Saw it Thursday night. Now I can finally read all those spoiler posts.

I thought the movie was incredible. I had the hugest smile on my face throughout the entire movie.

Lots of audience cheers and applause during moments of the film. Particular whenever an original cast member appeared on screen for the first time. Such moments were
[Show spoiler]The Lucasfilm logo, the opening crawl, first appearance of the Millennium Falcon, Han and Chewie's entrance, when Leia arrived, C-3PO and R2's appearance's, when Luke finally showed up. Hell, the audience cheered at the sight of Luke's freaking lightsaber!

It was full of surprises, twists, and revelations; all of which were not spoiled for me prior to seeing the movie so I got the enjoyment of experiencing those for the first time.

I loved how it uses the same story formula of the original Star Wars-A New Hope, but also takes inspiration from The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Some may see it as a cheap trick from JJ Abrams to grab the best moments from the original trilogy and throw them together to make a "Greatest Hits" Star Wars Throwback movie, but I was very pleased with how it turned out.

I gotta say, The Force Awakens was everything I hoped for and then some. It certainly delivered the thrills.

I also praise Daisy Ridley and John Boyega's performances. Their chemistry together was off the charts and it made them a much more believable pair working together. Harrison Ford was excellent in the movie as well. You could tell he really loved playing Han Solo again after all these years. I wish Carrie Fisher was given more material to work with though. Oscar Isaac was a big surprise for me. I didn't pay much attention to Poe before seeing the movie, but after watching him on screen, I want more Poe. Hopefully he has a larger role in Episode VIII.

My only complaints had to be some characters were underused. I wish there were more scenes of Leia, Captain Phasma, and Poe. Also, one scene I felt that wasn't needed at all for it stalled the story was
[Show spoiler]when Han had to deal with the Kanjiklub Gang that lead into the tentacle aliens escape.
Could have done without it.

Other than that, greatly enjoyed the movie and was highly entertained that left me wanting more. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a GREAT return to a galaxy far, far away that we know and love.

10/10 or 5 Stars.

So I am guessing the IMAX switch is the pan over to
[Show spoiler]the falcon on jakku when they are running from the TIE fighters and stops at the end of the scene?

I don't know if I can really write a review. I am just so overwhelmed with it and it's been 11 hours since I saw it.

Agreed. Incredible is the word I would also use being a big fan of Star Wars. One of the best movie experiences I've had, with Star Wars VII having lots of heart, tons of awesome action and even the 3D was strong. LOVE it. A+, 10/10, 5/5.

Now to try and see what the Darkside of the Force thinks about it, in regards to people giving this a 1/5 stars. I'm guessing they're very skeptical viewers with extremely high standards, and possibly not Star Wars fans. Their right to have that low opinion of the film, but also their loss of enjoyment for not seeing the brilliance and great energy of Star Wars VII to continue the series. This movie did a lot of things right, but I'm guessing they couldn't look past what they felt it did wrong. The critics will always be there, no matter how great a film is seen by others.

that is interesting. I have to say I loved the ship scenes in 3d. The Falcon weaving through the derelict Star Destroyer, the ties and x-wings the planet with the asteroid ring field, I couldn't believe how smooth the firepower looked as it was being shot toward the viewers.

Our cinema is 4k (and can do 48fps), so it looked super crisp.

the opening scroll I was too invested in the visual and then remembered I had to read the content. scim reading ensued.

there was
[Show spoiler]one prominent star destroyer visual which looked tremendous, as it sat in front of the death star 3. it was terrific.

You spelled posters incorrectly. And yes, many SW fans are posting their thoughts here on these threads.

So I've been thinking about this artistically in regards of what to expect. I realize that there could be a musical parallel to the series - the original was basically a Lucas mash-up of Kurosawa and Buck Rogers type of sci-fi. Would it be a fair comparison to say that TFA is the Abrams remix of Lucas?

I think it could explain a lot of things - some people will be upset seeing parts of a beloved classic being sampled or covered, others will call it unoriginal, but we all love the beat.

I personally love it when good songs get remixed or remade in exciting new ways - I'm kinda expecting TFA to be similar cinematically.

Sure...not the greatest movie out there but a hell of a lot of fun and it rekindled some fond memories of my youth and seeing the OT

If you look between the lines you can clearly see that it comes back in the fight with Ren. In the moment she close her eyes and then came out fighting. Also right after that fight she meets up with Lea and you tell in that they recognised each other and hugged for her loss. This was not two strangers meeting for the first time. Lea walked right past everyone else to get to Rey. Han didn't know her so clearly han had left lea in the build up of Rey memory block.
Interesting theory. I'll have to watch it again to see if it holds up to a 2nd viewing.

Saw it down in Spring Hill at the new Carmike 20 last night. Wife and I used to live in Franklin before moving to SH. Going down to Huntsville on Sunday to check it out in IMAX with the 70mm scene.

Used to go to Thoroughbred but always had issues with people talking during the films there. Never failed to get someone chit chatting through a whole movie.

WTF are you talking about? Most PT fans like the saga as a whole. And most of them like this film as well. Almost every one of your posts has been a bash of the prequels without offering any valuable insight. Did you join the forum just to troll?

Yeah I have never seen a prequel fan that spit on the originals like prequel haters spit on the prequels.

I just want the prequels to be recognized in the same manner as original, maybe even slightly below. They aren't trash like the haters make out.

I liked Force Awakens just thought it was too safe since it was basically rehashed.
