Some points and likely spoilers:

[Show spoiler]GREAT:
- Loved the characters & portrayal of them. We have some new people to take a ride with now. I like it a lot.
- Paid enough homage to the originals without going overboard.
- Han/Chewie.... loved it. Nothing else to say.
- The battles were tight and well filmed. NOT overly long like superhero movies or whatever and they mattered in the context of the story.
- Kylo & what he does at the end really grabbed me. Love the helmet removal scene, it almost reminded of Anakin at that age. Similar look and demeanor between Kylo and Anakin.
- Nice pacing and editing.
- Ending scene was brilliant.

NOT SO GREAT:
- Snoke is a stupid co-villian and the whole idea of him having Kylo on a leash weakens Kylo a bit. And, we know nothing about this Snoke fella so his destiny or motivations mean nothing to me. Blah on him.
- Many common plot points were used so there was a feeling of "been here before" with that. Droids hiding secret data, Inter-family issues with good/bad, large bad guy death star thing has to be blown up again. Felt recycled to me at times.
- The empire or First Order didnt learn their lesson. Another super huge planet-destroying entity blown to bits by 1-man fighters & a small team of people. Again. They never learn. It was a cool weapon but still a little shady.

Overall? Liked it a lot and the positives far outweight the negatives. A few things WERE predictable but others werent. Ill take the balance between the two.

Psyched to have SW BACK in the thick of things
In terms of a movie, sure, certain things might seem
[Show spoiler]repetitive. But in terms of real life, since when has war ever taught anyone (at least anyone on Earth) not to repeat the mistakes of the last one. Those mistakes have been made on earth for over a thousand years.

One thing I thought really stood out and made the scene much more impactful/emotional was during the
[Show spoiler]Starkiller demonstration and you see civilians scared reactions to the destruction that's about to become of them.

Gave it 4 stars in the poll. My actual vote is 4.5 stars, but I didn't think it was deserving to be upgraded to 5 stars in the poll.

Excellent film! Go see it!

There were no bad parts, but there also wasn't any great memorable new themes,

The prequels had some great original sounds. This one did not.
I asked everyone one from my family (5 of us) if they could hum a new theme and not one of us could recall any new theme (we just missed it as I'm sure it's there). I'm going to pay more attention to that for my 2nd viewing.

???
How about
"Battle of the Heroes" (just incredible)
"Across the Stars" (wonderful and sad)
"The Zam Wezzel chase" - lots of percussion
Gen Grevious's theme is pretty cool

Here, I'll counter that spoiler with this one just for you... Rey is actually the love child of Bib Fortuna and Sy Snootles and her mission is to bring peace to the galaxy via music. Buckaroo Bonzai is her lead guitarist and Jar Jar Binks Jr. is on drums.

I haven't seen the movie yet. Maybe it's fake. Or maybe that troll is one of those EU crusaders.

I was deeply focused during the scene with Rey on Jakku. Especially
[Show spoiler]when she was scavenging inside a Star Destroyer

Just got back from seeing this, it gets my thumbs up. I had my doubts, but JJ pulled it off. As someone who grew up with the original trilogy, it pushed all the right buttons. And props to Daisy Ridley, such a great performance. Rey is a BADASS.

I went to the 10 am showing and it was sold out. Luckily, I got there about 45 minutes early and managed to get a good place to sit.
10 minutes into the start of the movie, the theater decided to stop the film. They explained that because the other patrons were still filing into the theater that they would restart the movie.
So, I got to see the beginning portion of the movie twice.
I voted 4 stars.
