I definitely walked out of that theatre wanting more!
Me too. I love the whole Saga virtually equally. I don't really know if I could rank these, but Return of the Jedi is the weakest for me if I have to choose, but still a fun time with characters I love. Can't wait to see Force Awakens again tomorrow.

Just came back from watching this. Enjoyed it. Rey kicks so much ass! Love the actress playing her.

Mate, I wouldn't even reply or acknowledge it, just report it and carry on as you are, he'll get bored of it sooner rather than later.

Borrowed the previous films and watched them again, still not that impressed by them. Now I'm rethinking seeing this in theaters, don't see liking it much if the previous films still have no major impact on me. :/

Kathleen Kennedy has revealed at the recent premiere:

iconic cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will all appear in Episode VIII, as will newcomers John Boyega and Daisy Ridley.

This could be quite interesting.

It will break records the same way Jurassic World did. No wonder Colin Trevorrow now on board for IX. But I have faith in Rian Johnson, I'm glad we're done with VII, bring on VIII.

2.5/5 stars, rounded to 3/5 stars for the poll.
Yep, and you are being generous.

Yep. As a composer myself, I have to say that this was the most unoriginal and bland JW score I have ever heard, but I stated as much in my initial reaction.

I still couldn't tell you.

Go watch the behind scenes of Lucas and Williams talking about music. They are having a real conversation of the nuances of the score.

When we saw JJ Abrams, he was like a fanboy holding up his camera.

Huge difference.

This felt like a super hero action movie.... not Star Wars....

I really wish they recycled the prequel songs into the new Star Wars films. I dont see what the big deal would be.

Nobody even talks to Rey about the force and suddenly she can manipulate minds, control objects and beat a Sith master in training????
Not sure why people are willing to overlook this -- maybe b/c it's Star Wars
Because it's a GL free ''SW'' film.

Agreed. It's the typical franchise formula of these days.

I wasn't that excited for this myself at first (mostly due to waning affection towards the franchise). However, the more I think about, the more I think this is a better, fresher version of A New Hope and the sequels should be better as well. So I am actually getting excited for this, hope I see it sooner rather than later.

I work retail, and Star Wars now on every fifth or so item I scan. It's amazing to me how Disney have managed to release every single imaginable Star Wars product except the one I would sell my soul for, you know that? A deranged sense of humor, God has.

Huh?

ILM did the vast majority of their work. San Francisco, Vancouver, Singapore, and London divisions all contributed.

Was about to say. ILM did the effects. Special Visual Effects by Industrial Light & Magic got a prominent place in the credit scroll.

On another note, The Force Awakens is going to have a reverse mirror of the reaction to the PT. Those who adore the PT will hate TFA. Those who hate the PT will most likely adore TFA. And this is the reason why people like the one who came in here tonight do what they do. Because they know that the Star Wars fanbase is quite literally one of the worst around if not the worst. Endless bickering and caterwauling over the most tiny and inconsequential things. It's sickening. That's why the trolls love it so. They know they can get a reaction from this fanbase more than probably any other. IT'S A FREAKING MOVIE PEOPLE! It's not life and death here. Let these petty differences go.

I don't side with either party because I love TFA and I love the PT. I love ALL of the Star Wars films. And therein is proof of my point. One cannot say that they love the PT without getting bum-rushed by a small, but vicious, group of people who cannot stand seeing that opinion stated. I'm not gonna namedrop, but I have already met some here. TFA will suffer the same fate I am sad to say because in a few more months once the Blu has hit, and really the whole Trilogy will fall to this, it will be impossible to state love for the ST without yet another small, but no less vicious, band of GL worshippers bum-rushing that poor unfortunate soul who dares to show him/herself. Sad, but inevitable.

I just saw this last night in 3D w/Atmos...

Now, I've never liked Star Wars. I don't dislike it, it's just not for me. I didn't grow up with it and it was one of those things fans and retailers would try to force on me. Needless to say I was not part of the hype but I knew what it felt like as a fan to have new material released. I went into this with no knowledge of the movie, a few widely known facts about the original movies, and the intention of having this movie get me into the franchise. So, now I can say it...

I LOVED this movie! I thought it was incredibly well shot, well written, well acted, and introduced the new characters brilliantly, leaving so much depth to be discovered. I'm excited for this new generation of Star Wars stories, particularly to see more of Rey. Knowing I have this and future SW films to look forward to, I now want to catch up with the previous films I missed.

As a non-fan and former naysayer, I give this a 5/5.

Got to see this this morning and enjoyed it very very much. So much to take in but overall Star Wars is back in a big way. In reading some of the other posts about
[Show spoiler] Han's death. I was shocked that Chewie didn't go ape shit or would that be wookie-shit to quickly avenge the death of his pal.
sure he fired and wounded Kylo Ren and set off the explosives but I wanted him to really go off.

I thought it was a very good Star Wars movie, however I did not find it as "life-changing" as some reviews had it.
