Default New This Week: 06/26/2007 I have a snake to hustle edition

Get ready Blu-ray fans, they're doubling the output over the previous week so your wallets are in danger... instead of one title you've got two to pick from!

Default Black Snake Ripoff

I was all set to buy this title. However Paramount is sticking it to us two ways for this release: Price and no lossless audio. $28 (street) for a movie without the killer audio. Are we suckers or what?

Do I detect a note of sarcasm?

Several notes worth in fact. I'm thinking of making up a little tune someday...

Just Black Snake Moan. Can't pass up some hi-def Christina Ricci nudity.

Well, it looks like the BDA has become complacent in this format war. This is absolutely pathetic since there is not even one exclusive Blu-ray release this week.

Next week (the 3rd) will be even better. The Warriors and The Patriot on BD 50 and Flatliners and The Untouchables. Not too bad if you ask me.

I already have Hustle and Flow on DVD, and I told myself that I wouldn't buy any BD titles that I already own on DVD... Good thing I sold most of my DVD collection so I can upgrade. I will be picking up a couple of BDs this week though...

Give it time...this is the quiet before the storm. I have this strange feeling that the fall and Holiday season is going to be huge. We may not even have enough money for Christmas presents because Blu-Ray will be taking all of our money!!!!!!

Yeah I personally don't mind having a quiet couple of weeks on the bluray front. As a relatively new adopter of blu I've been buying a slew of titles lately, 22 this month alone!! My wallet will thank me for the break!

Probably going to get black snake moan, although hustle and flow was good, I already have it on DVD and don't feel it deserves an HD upgrade.

Yes, that is understandable but you they shouldn't even give HDDVD a glimour of hope. The BDA should kick them while they are down, don't even let them think that they stand a chance and with these hollow release schedules they are doing just that. I'd hate all this momentum they have built up with the big anouncements this past week to go to waste.
