Default Need some help. Wondering if I should buy these movies on DVD

Yeah I know it sounds crazy.

Here is the thing next month a bunch of Hitchcock films are coming out on DVD in special edition.

Do you think I should buy them or wait it out?

I want to get
Psycho
Rear Window
Vertigo

then also Child's Play (which obviously isnt hitchcock) is out in a new dvd release.

Should I get them or wait it for Blu-ray?

Unless you are a collector who wants every version of everything, just wait.

I'd buy them now so you can enjoy them..... . just pick them up used if you can get a good deal..... Go for it.....

EDIT:

also... people avoid DVDs like the HIV.... I don't get it.... DVDs still are capable of a very nice picture... and good sound. Sure there are some turds out there too, but as far as content goes, Hitchcock movies are very re-watchable, and I'd pick them up unless you have heard any rumors about their future releases, which I haven't.......

I'm holding off on my Rear Window purchase for the exact same reason--

When you see studios suddenly pull brand-iconic vault titles out for "Special Edition" re-releases for no stated reason...

Hold off on the Universal Hitchcock dvds! The only reason the Blu-rays weren't announced day and date with the dvds was Universal has limited access to BD-50 replication lines through Christmas. If HD DVD had still been alive Universal was definitely getting ready to release the Hitchcocks. My guess is we see Hitchcock BDs sometime in 2009.

There are already some fine editions of those out on dvd that you should be able to find cheap used. Just to hold you over.

I'd say wait, Universal should be releasing these next year at some point. I mean you could always rent these on dvd instead of having to buy them and then just buy the bluray version.
