Default PS3 Intercooler

Are the innercoolers worth it and are they discontinued? I went to 2 eb games, target, block buster, and best buy and they had nothing!

I don't recommend them. They seem like a waste of money.

I didn't know. Seems like a better fan to have running constantly. I recently moved and it's kind of dusty in the new room AND hotter. The fan runs more constantly than it did in the past.

I'd rather run an innercooler to death and dust it up... but wanted you guys opinions.

I dont care too much for them. I got one for free and it used up one of the USB ports on the front but blocked the other one. LAME . If need be put a small fan behind it.

Add more noise and if they fail your PS3 is toast. Fans stop running. PS3 overheats and dies.

Its best to just have your PS3 in an open well ventilated area and avoid these type of products.

Not only are they a waste of money, I've actually heard of them reducing the life span of the console to which it's attatched.

I've heard of this as well and on both the 360 and the PS3. Just keep it well ventilated and dust it regularly and it shoud be fine.

you might consider a laptop cooler. I have heard some people have good results with them. The best option is to leave the PS3 well ventilated.

I've been trying to... I may have just never noticed that the fan constantly runs. Do yours? I mean it's not sounding like it's going to blow-up. But I can always hear the fan. I have a 60gb and I'm really not looking to mess it up and have to get something I don't want as a replacement.

Noo!
Do NOT use intercoolers!
You have fans inside the PS3 blowing OUT, and then you have fans blowing IN, I believe that creates conflict.

The PS3 does a fine job itself with ventilation.

If you REALLY want to, buy a FANLESS laptop cooler.

I've got the black one, amaaaazing product. Although my 80GB, the side (that's not flat) gets REALLY hot, so I stick a game case under to lift up the laptop cooler.

I have the 80gig MGS4 pack and I have noticed the side opposite the Hard Drive gets REALLY freakin hot. Whats up with that? I use to get the fans kicking into high gear more than I would like, so I put four clear lifter tabs under mine to get air flow under the PS3. Seems to help a little bit.

I've been using the Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler with my 40GB PS3 and am very happy with it. It does a great job of cooling the PS3 rather than the PS3's fan alone and is super quiet.

I feel that if it was sooooo necessary, the ps3 would already have one.

When I started playing Final Fantasy games (late bloomer), my ps2 was on for DAYS at a time and was fine.
