The LG model numbers look similar to the 2014, 2015 European model numbers. (950, 940, etc.) The screen sizes look plausible, as well.

The CES prognosticators are out in force with their predictions for CES 2016. Some excerpts:

“At least two more TV makers will join Vizio in adding Dolby Vision HDR technology to select 4K TVs”

“Also at CES, new sources of 4K content will be revealed, but they won’t be limited to 4K Blu-ray discs or streaming services.”

“Hisense promises to bring 4K HDR technology to “disruptive” price points, and Hisense’s Sharp brand will unveil new picture-quality technologies.”

“Though some companies will launch 4K Blu-ray players at CES, others will hold off, waiting to see how the market develops The cautious suppliers contend that Hollywood hasn’t yet committed to many 4K Blu-ray titles and that many consumers already get 4K video via streaming services.” (Another article predicted 3 CE manufacturers will show UHD BR players, Panasonic and Samsung are expected to be joined by Sony or perhaps Hisense using the Sharp brand.)

The Sony ones look spot on.
But don't take much guesswork.

As to adding Dolby vision, I doubt its a major player and if it is it will be Panasonic

Sony is using Dolby Vision in mastering their UHD material. I wouldn't be surprised if their TV division had something...

I had forgotten that, but Panasonic have had links to Fox in the past.
I wonder if Sony would, they like their own formats too much.
Their blus just state HDR don't they?

Has anyone here seen any prices for current Blu-ray players at rock bottom levels yet because of the upcoming launch of UHD Blu-ray?

I have seen two Blu-ray players from the HMV Ireland website which are already at low prices. Both of them are from Sony and are sold out as well.

Sony BDPS1100B Blu-ray player - €22.50

Sony BDPS4100B 3D Blu-ray player - €32.50

Sorry I cannot post links to the site here as I'm not allowed to do so. Thanks.

Well it's the big year everyone, happy new year and here's hoping that this year really is the year Ultra HD Blu-ray launches and not just in select territories that none of us are apart of.

Good list, ^ thanks for posting Ray. For video here's two more to catch.
  • Hisense 1 PM PST
  • Samsung 2 PM PST

I little tough to get around to some of the press conferences I want to attend as the major press conferences are hosted in three different locations. Sony actually hold's their press event at Sony's convention center exhibit booths.

I'm still looking for live feed sources for Hisense, Samsung and the UHD Alliance. No luck yet.

Robert, you should catch the UHD Alliance Presser, if you can.

https://www.cesweb.org/Press/Press-E...ONFERENCE.aspx

"We'll find out more about the specific details at CES, but it appears that there will be two levels of HDR performance, including one for "premium" UHD TVs that are able to meet higher minimum quality specifications. One of the sticking points, we've heard, has been the issue of peak brightness, since OLED TVs don't get quite as bright as LED-backlit LCD sets. However, they are capable of much deeper blacks and therefore high dynamic range. We think that there will be a separate, slightly lower brightness requirement for OLED TVs."

It is a good deal. I wonder why they are selling them at a price that low in the meantime?

It will probably entice more consumers into buying them even though no 4K will be built into it.

Those specific models of Sony player came out in 2013, so it's no wonder that a) they're so cheap and b) there's no stock anyway...

If we were to get info on retail UHD media release at CES, would it come during a specific Presser, or just be a random announcement?
