Yeah, sadly I do. I used to work retail and watch the little ones spending their money on those.

FAMILY FILM -- A film that can be enjoyed equally by all ages. Examples: Star Wars, Pinocchio, Harry Potter, The Little Mermaid

CHILDREN'S FILM -- A film that is aimed exclusively at young audiences. Examples: VeggieTales, Thomas the Tank Engine, Barney, etc.

Almost every film mentioned in this thread is a family film, not a children's film.

"We don't make movies for children. Our most important audience is the free-thinking adult."

It's an inking mistake. This has been debunked so many times, the joke is on the people who believe it.

I want them to have some level of respect for Star Wars.
are you serious??

No, just people looking for things and all too willing to believe that audio glitches and dust clouds farmed to an outside animation studios reading "SFX" really spells "SEX" or what have you. Go to Snopes.com, they convincgly answer all this urban legend rotgut.

The Villian always has something wrong with them and usually has a foreign sounding accent. Look at The Lion King(Scar) murders his brother, Little mermaid(Ursella) others already mentioned. In my opinion a lot of Disney and Pixar movies have stuff in them that I wouldn't want a small child watching. I remember when I first saw Toy Story(which I loved), I thought why is there no Father. In Finding nemo the little guy loses his mom and is born with a gimp fin(handicapped).
Bambi(hunter kills parent). Another thing in Lion King(crossdressing). I am pretty open minded but why do they need that stuff in a supposed family movie. Tarzan, you can clearly see the shadow of the bad guy getting strangled with the vines. There is a ton of violence in every Disney movie I've seen. That's just some of the stuff I've noticed over the years.
Just my 2 cents.
If these films were meant for children, then all of this might be perceived as disturbing. As the films were meant for all ages and some of them even meant for more adult audiences (like Bambi, Fantasia, Victory Through Air Power, etc.), accusing them of having disturbing imagery is like accusing The Dark Knight or Temple of Doom or Grave of the Fireflies of having disturbing images.

I wasn't actually accusing them of anything, I was making an observation.

For Sleeping Beauty, I didn't like the storyline. Never seen Surf Nazis. Three Ninjas was another flop.

Sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree.
Claiming that Disney does not try to market their movies toward children is kind of like claiming that cigarette companies don't want kids to start smoking. Of course Walt Disney is going to say that their movies are made for everyone, who isn't. The reason the "most important audience is the free-thinking adult." is because if the movie isn't approved of by the adult, they aren't going to let the kids watch. The kids can't buy the movie; the adult has to buy it for the kids.

I tend to believe a more acurate description of a children's movie is:

CHILDREN'S MOVIE -- A movie that is marketed primarily towards children. A movie where the primary audience is children (and this was intended).

P.S. ----Are you trying to argue that more adults watch Bambi and Fantasia, than kids???? ----never mind.

Here is a link to children's movie posters at Allposters.com (it includes bambi and little mermaid):

I didn't care for sleeping beauty either. When I was a kid, it bored me.

As for getting stoned to death, people are too busy still casting stones at me for saying the Little Mermaid gives kids the wrong message.
