If that is confirmed I don't understand why Fox refuses to give the Blu-Ray 3D version Atmos if they already have a home Atmos version available. Both Ultra HD and Blu-Ray 3D versions should get Atmos since both formats equally support it

You know why bro, because marketing: they're saving the audio USP for the new format so it feels like more of a 'double whammy' to buyers of UHD content.

But the UHD version comes with the regular BD. I dont see why that would cause a confusion.

I'm not sure if it's been asked or answered, but will the digital copies be in 4K? I can't see everyone taking the plunge straightaway, but for those with 4K TVs and Apps that support 4K it would be a great head start. I'd consider buying a 4K TV myself if I can get 4K content from digital copies (I'll wait for the 2nd or 3rd generation UHD BD players), I'd buy the UHD BDs for the BDs and 4K DCs. |

It's not official but it's obvious. I think Fox has an exclusive deal with DTS for standard Blu-rays so they can't use Atmos on that format.... |

Not much of a confirmation. All Fox has said that they will support advanced object-based audio on UHD and not BD. Encoding with DTS on BD doesn't preclude them from using Atmos, as Universal has demonstrated. |

I hoped that a 3D disc would be included in the combo pack but I don't think people who don't like or support 3D would be willing to pay the extra.
I think studios should start selling a single disc 3D only movies of those 4K titles for like $5-$10 each so that those who like the complete 4K+3D experience won't have to pay again for another 2D disc and Digital code (and maybe another DVD) included in the usual 3D packs. |

James Finn from Fox just tweeted out the following information regarding the DI of The Martian. Very interesting.

Thanks for that. I'm glad they haven't just upscaled the 2K version in its entirety and that they're actually going the extra mile to use the raw 'assets' when they can. The more VFX-heavy the movie the more 2K-upscaled stuff you're gonna get in there, but seeing as actual 4K-finished movies have been doing that since the year dot anyway, it's not a problem for me.
Nice. |

So does this mean any non-VFX scene will be HDR graded at 4K from the 5K RAW footage at 5K? |
