United Kingdom The Revenant (2016)

Surprised to see nothing on here (at least using the "Search forum" functionality) about this amazing film. Saw it at the local IMAX last night and was blown away by it. Pre-ordered the limited edition steelbook from HMV as soon as I got home.

I disliked "Birdman", although I enjoyed "Babel", but this is in a whole different league. Needs to be seen on a big screen for the stunning location work.

An amazing piece of film-making in my opinion.

Probably because the film hasn't had a blu-ray release date announced yet. There's a thread in the movie section talking about the film.

Wow, didn't realise this was in IMAX...will try and change my plans to see it now, as I might try and get to an IMAX screening next week (instead of a regular 2D screening). Annoyingly there's one tonight at 11pm and another on Monday night when I'm busy, so neither are ideal (that pesky Star Wars film is still knocking about).

Blu-ray purchase will be based on my enjoyment. However, I did really like Birdman and only just bought that (studio titles eventually drop in price).

I think I'll wait to see if this gets a UHD release. Would be criminal if it didn't.

I definitely gonna buy this one, I loved the movie. I'm going for the 2K version, I'm not jumping on the 4K train yet.

Caught this last night. Superb. If Leo doesn't get an Oscar last year, I will have lost all faith in humanity.

Majority of film shot on the ALEXA65, so it should hold up to IMAX exhibition. I will be seeing the film when I can, although I am not keen on the look

Go and see it in IMAX if you can. Possibly the most incredible vistas I've seen in a cinema before.

Just not a fan of the way they shot this. Lubezki's a pro, he will work to his director's instructions. This is no doubt how Inarritu wanted this to look.

I felt the camerawork on Birdman was very distracting, camerawork should not draw attention to itself IMHO.

Could you elaborate why you don't like the look? I thought the cinematography was astounding. Nearly every shot is beautiful.

Couldn't agree more. Glad I saw it in IMAX. Watching bits from it on 65" TV at home (which I'm sat about four feet away from) just isn't the same. Interesting that Mark Kermode saw it twice - the first time on a screener disc when he wasn't that impressed, and then in the cinema where he found he was much more impressed.

That being said, I really disliked "Birdman" too

Great movie. Oscar worthy for sure. DiCaprio may finally get his statue.

Is this the only supplemental content on the disk?

This was a great looking film but the film did not do anything for me. I enjoyed Birdman but not this.

Do not get how people are taken in by this movie. Running time 156 minutes, which felt like 7 hours. And Leonardo suffering is not acting. Neither is Tom Hardy's one note villain behind a huge beard. Beautiful to look at yes, but it went on and on and on and on and on..........
