Wish they would finally release Hunter in the Dark, and Bandits VS Samurai Squadron as those two are great films. Hunter in the Dark is easily one of the best Samurai films ever made.

Pedantic, I know. But I thought I'd ask.
They made a standard Criterion cover for it in the custom cover thread somewhere that you can print out, put in an ordinary Criterion case and it won't look out of place.

I'm definitely in for Only Angels Have Wings, unsure about the others (and already own Brief Encounter). Intrigued by Phoenix.

Last night, I watched Adventures of Zatoichi, the ninth film in the Zatoichi series.

Adventures of Zatoichi has a somewhat forgettable plot, even by the standards of the other films in the box set that tend to run together, but it's a visually gorgeous feature. I love the final fight scene that takes place in a light snowfall, and I liked the subplot of the samurai who initially refuses to fight Zatoichi because he is not being paid enough to make the attempt. There's also an interesting misdirection with a subplot involving a man who resembles Zatoichi's father.

I think that I'll adopt the routine of watching the Zatoichi movies on weeknights, since the individual movies do not have any extensive special features for me to go through, while taking a break with other films on the weekends. I love how the visuals seem to be more elaborate with each subsequent film in the set, though.

It did originally come with a slipcover which minimizes the size difference a little.

I'm getting both of them and I can't wait. I think they're both pretty great films, so I'm excited to (finally) own them.

Gilda is a fun watch, but not something I'll buy as I don't feel I'll revisit it often.

Llewyn was pretty good, but I didn't feel it was a great film.

Gilda is a must own for me. I had it pre-ordered through Amazon, but then I realized that I was getting close to 500 points at Criterion, so I cancelled the pre-order and am waiting for Criterion's flash sale. ILD, I need to watch before I buy. The Coen brothers are hit or miss with me. I either love it or don't like it at all.

Inside Llewyn Davis is a very good movie, but definitely not my favorite by them.

I've seen it a couple of times and that's enough for me.

It's case sensitive. Make sure you enter your email with the same case that you signed up with.

There are members here that can make a cover (identical to the normal release, just resized for a criterion case) and print it for you. I had someone do it and now BB is seamless on my shelf.

Yesterday I was in my local Barnes & Noble, flipping through all of the Blu-rays looking for something expected -- as it was, I found some Cohen releases (first time I've ever seen any in-store) -- and came across a copy (without a sleeve) of Benjamin Button in the "drama" section. I was sorely tempted to move it over to the Criterion section, but resisted.

Watched Moonrise Kingdom yesterday. I was impressed with it.

Started off like Wes Anderson's other movies but I felt that sometime in the middle of the movie there was something he added that made it feel unique while still having the vibe of a Wes Anderson movie.

Also, now I really do like the cover of the Criterion release, it puts that shot in perspective.

Whenever I start to think that the way I've organized my collection is too convoluted, I just go to Barnes and Noble and remember that it could be much, much worse.

I ordered Gilda, since it's an absolute masterpiece IMO. And Rita Hayworth may be sexier in that movie than anyone in the history of film. The extras look fairly cool. And I don't own it on DVD, so it was a no question buy for me.

ETA: By the way, Ray is being mean to me. Just saying.

I added The Last Temptation of Christ to my collection, since I saw it today at Movie Stop.

The Peter Gabriel soundtrack is golden, and this will also make a good addition to my collection of David Bowie's cinema appearances.
