I am really disappointed that Ninja Gaiden Sigma is delayed one week. I am thinking about buying Rainbow Six Vegas instead tomorrow as I am a little bored with RFOM. I know there are other threads on this topic, but what is going to make this game so much better than any other FPS? I really like to play online but I don't have a lot of "friends" online. I tried the game in the XBOX download and did not really like it although I think the concept is great.
I need some convincing to spend my hard earned money on a new game. |

Vegas is awesome, because it's not just a run of the mill FPS where you just run around like crazy with a health bar and plow through all the levels. There's a lot more strategy involved. I really got addicted to the online mode. There are a lot of different modes to play, and there's a promotion system so that as you play and get better you'll get promotions to unlock new outfits and weapons to use when playing online. The coop modes are really fun. I'd say half the people on my friends list are from playing Vegas.

Ninja Gaiden was an awesome game, insanely hard but awesome and the graphics where superb. I have yet t play rainbow six but i plan to pick it up. if you've never played the xbox version id suggest picking it up, but only if you like a challenge because there will be points where you'll consider suicide as an option.

Haha, there are definitely some frustrating parts in the single player game. That's why the multiplayer is so much fun, because if you play with somebody who knows what they're doing, the strategy is a lot more pronounced and it makes it a lot more fun. As with a lot of team based games, in single player your teammates are borderline retarded. Vegas is better than most as you can control them pretty well, but sometimes they lose their minds.

If they don't botch the port of this (I also played and love the PC version)...you are in for an intense and visceral treat. Run'n'gun offense will NOT work in something like this!

See this is what I don't understand. I've been looking at this website for a couple of months, and I have to say I find this site extremely informative about what's going on with blu-ray. Other post have been interesting in terms of equipment and problems/solutions people are having and helping to fix. This entry however, is so meaningless. I mean, I don't want to be mean, but why in the world does anyone need convincing to buy this game. The reviews have been out for a while and for the most part, they have been stellar. Of course some people are going to say it's great, while others will say otherwise. So the bottom line is this, if you have the money and are interested, then go get it. If you don't have the money, and you didn't like the demo, then don't get it. I don't see why anyone needs to post anything to "convince" you. IMHO |

Maybe it's just the title of your post. "Tell me why I should buy..." I'm all for discussing games, but that title just comes across kind of egocentric. Last edited by rsway; 06-25-2007 at 07:43 PM. |

That's the last thing I expected is to be called egocentric. I was just thinking about making an impulse purchase since I am upset about NGS not being released tomorrow and I wanted to find out if it was really worth purchasing RSV instead. I wanted to see if there really was a lot of buzz about the game one day before release.

So, ahem, back on topic . . . Vegas absolutely trounces the past Rainbow Six games. You don't need any previous knowledge of the series to understand this one, it stands on its own. I liked RS3, but lost interest in it fairly quickly. Vegas held my interest more than any game I've played in the past year or so. Just go buy it, you won't be sorry.

I myself really find this post helpful, as I feel the same way. I've played Rainbow Six on 360, for about 10 hours total, but I still feel like I need some convincing.
Regardless, I'll give my breakdown on how I felt about the game on 360: Graphics: Decent, nothing superb. Textures were pretty bad, and the game some time felt last-gen.. though Tom Clancy games have never really been about graphics. Character models are alright. The environments seem pretty good at times. Animations aren't that great either. However, the lights and colors make this game look pretty nice at some times. In regards to resolution, I've heard this game looks blurry at 1080i, and normal at 720p. It's going to be a pain to set my res to 720p everytime I play this game, so I'll have to see how this works out. 2.5/5 Sound: Amazing. I have a 7.1 setup, and on 360 I could hear every shot come from behind me and the ricochet in front of me or wherever the bullet hits. Tons of audible noises coming from every channel, REALLY immerses you in the game. 5/5 Gameplay/AI: Also Amazing. Tom Clancy games shine in this aspect. It will immerse you to the point where you don't really care about the graphics. Gameplay/playability is all that matters after playing the game for a few days anyway. Cover system is pretty good, you can take cover on anything. Controlling your team is really fun, and multiple insertion points to certain areas make it really fun as your team breaks through a door as you come breaking in through the window. I have heard some complaints about AI on 360, but I didn't play the game enough to notice it myself. After awhile, it's the same old thing, but in different areas, but it kept my interest for the entire time I had played. 4.5/5 Controls: Obviously I can't tell you how the PS3 game controlled, but the 360 had very precise shooting and I didn't mix up the controls after getting used to them. I really hope the analog sticks work well with this game, as I have heard the 360 controller is better for aiming. I won't give a score for this, as I haven't used the PS3 controller. Multiplayer/Online: Once you're done with singleplayer, or if you just want to dive right in, Multiplayer is incredible. Team-based, free-for-all, or whatever mode you want to play, they all were very very fun. I didn't get to play it for long, but everything I have heard about it is great. You level up your character and unlock different things as you go. We also supposedly are getting the 2 map packs 360 had to pay for FREE. Split-screen co-op with a friend through the main campaign will be fun if you want to play with a friend, but I would recommend single player. I believe you can also play the campaign with other people in the PS Network. 5/5 Being a port, we'll have to see if most of these things stayed true to PS3. They've delayed this game for over half-a-year, and I hope Ubisoft made the most of that time. I plan on picking up the game the day it comes out, but hopefully an official review will be out before then. If there were other games I was interested in to buy instead, I would have trouble deciding due to all the problems and bad speculation I have heard so far. The only other thing I hope it will do is not bore me after a week. Multiplayer sounds like it will keep my attention after the single-player campaign. We'll see in a few days. |

The review above does a good job explaining the game. I have not played the signle player mode on the 360 yet but i have played the hell out of the multiple split screen with my roommate. As some one mentioned before it is not your normal Run and Gun FPS. You must take cover to stay a live. On realistic difficulty you can dye after getting hit one or two times if your not careful. When you take cover the camera changes to 3rd person veiw which is executed very smoothly. I recomend this game if you like FPS's but want to try something different for that genre.
