Any portable blu-ray player would probably be only 720p, no matter the screen size. Anyone demanding 1080p at those screen sizes are just nuts.

Even 720p is almost wasted unless you have a screen of 17". As long as it outputs at 1080p to an external TV, then all is not lost. Easy to take to friends homes without blu-ray and blow them away.

The chip set just hasn't shrunk enough yet.
